Data Center Energy Marshal

The role of a Data Center Energy Marshal involves reviewing and approving all planned electrical work energization requests and lockout/tagout permits before field activities commence. This position requires substantial time spent verifying isolation points in the field, inspecting panels, and ensuring that all energized work boundaries are properly identified and controlled. The Energy Marshal coordinates with construction, commissioning, and operations teams to manage safe energization sequences, resolve electrical safety concerns, and maintain compliance with relevant standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve all planned electrical work energization requests.
• Verify isolation points in the field and inspect panels.
• Ensure all energized work boundaries are properly identified and controlled.
• Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and operations teams to manage safe energization sequences.
• Resolve electrical safety concerns and maintain full compliance with standards.
• Oversee adherence to lockout/tagout, energization procedures, and compliance with approved permits.
• Conduct field audits and evaluate incident metrics.
• Respond to corrective actions and ensure consistency in meeting safety milestones.

• 10 years of experience as a licensed journeyman or master electrician.
• Expertise in medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, and commissioning practices.
• 5 years of experience in developing, implementing, and auditing complex lockout/tagout and energization procedures.
• Hands-on experience with NFPA 70E and OSHA 1910.147 standards.

• Formal electrical licensing or equivalent field experience.
• Experience in mission-critical or high-risk construction environments.
• Strong background in electrical safety and compliance.

This position is 100% onsite, located in the person, AZ, with a standard 40-hour work week and up to 15 additional hours as needed. Energy Marshals must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including arc-rated clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, dielectric gloves, and voltage-rated footwear. Additional PPE such as face shields or balaclavas is required during energized verification, testing, or switching activities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72.00 - $82.00/hr.
