Job Description
As an Architectural Associate, you will produce construction drawings for a diverse range of projects with guidance from the project manager and project architect. You will collaborate with the architectural team to develop design ideas, communicate these ideas through drawings and renderings, and perform site visits both locally and nationally to document existing conditions or observe construction progress. Additionally, you will support the project manager by responding to client requests, preparing backgrounds for outside consultants, compiling project submittals, preparing and tracking permit submittals, and responding to permit comments. Your role will also involve creating project folders and maintaining the project directory.
Responsibilities
- Produce construction drawings for various projects with guidance from the project manager and project architect.
- Collaborate with the architectural team to develop design ideas and communicate them through drawings and renderings.
- Perform site visits to local and national project locations to document existing conditions or observe construction progress.
- Support the project manager by responding to client requests and preparing backgrounds for outside consultants.
- Compile project submittals and prepare and track permit submittals.
- Respond to permit comments with the support of the project manager and project architect.
- Create project folders and maintain the project directory.
- Provide architectural support for various project tasks as assigned.
Essential Skills
- 2-3 years of experience in architecture.
- A professional degree in architecture from an accredited university.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel on a limited basis both locally and within the United States (2 times per month).
- Relevant experience in retail or commercial architecture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Revit, Lumion, Enscape, Sketchup, and Photoshop.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to successfully engage with team members, clients, and consultants.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Service-oriented attitude with resourcefulness and responsiveness.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Desire to learn and grow skillset with a 'can-do' attitude.
Work Environment
Located in downtown Chicago at Monroe and Wells, the office is within walking distance from the Brown/Purple line train station. The work environment features a hybrid model schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. The office is open concept with 15-20 employees, where you will have your own desk and computer. The principals have their own offices but maintain an open-door policy. The office includes a kitchenette for employees to bring and prepare their own lunch, promoting a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr.
