What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipyard Fire Prevention Coordinator position at Acro Service Corporation?
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and process daily hot work permits with Ship's Force, contractors, and project teams.
- Maintain daily hot work logs and track permit status, including work start and end times.
- Review permits for accuracy and ensure compliance with safety requirements and company procedures.
- Attend daily production and Fire Safety Council meetings to resolve scheduling conflicts and support safe operations.
- Coordinate hot work activities with project schedules and communicate restrictions or conflicts to project stakeholders.
- Prepare weekly hot work reports and two-week forecast reports.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Fire Marshals, contractors, and government representatives to ensure safe and compliant execution of hot work.
- Support multiple ship repair projects as operational needs require.
Qualifications
- Experience in shipyard operations, hot work coordination, or industrial safety.
- Knowledge of NAVSEA hot work requirements and permit processes preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shipyard environment.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 2 years work experience performing contractor work in ship repair, exposed to the hot work permit requirements, shipboard fire prevention, and safety procedures.
- OSHA 10 certification is required.
- Working knowledge of shipboard compartment layout, the meaning of adjacent compartments relative to contractor work, and able to maneuver through a ship via decks and blkhds to locate any given shipboard area and compartments.
