What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Support Specialist position at Acro Service Corp?
Job Description:
- Providing outreach services to people living within the community who are in unhoused living situations (living in encampments, tent cities, under bridges, in the woods, etc.).
- Provide immediate support and guidance to individuals entering recovery and mental health treatment.
- Talking with individuals about seeking treatment or other services. Build rapport with those who are unhoused and with substance use and/or mental health disorders.
- Provide direct and indirect peer support services and emotional support to the client and/or families as indicated.
- Assist with transportation of clients and referrals to treatment.
- May provide on the spot assistance of Narcan and/or CPR.
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Applicant must have direct personal experience living with mental illness and/or addiction and recovery and must be willing to self-disclose lived experience for the purpose of education, role modeling, and providing hope to others about the reality of recovery.
- Have a Peer Certification or be willing to obtain within the first six months of hire.
- Have basic computer skills in Microsoft office: Word, Excel
