About the Role
As a Steel Fabrication Specialist, you will transform raw materials into complex structural assemblies by interpreting detailed blueprints and executing precise layouts. Your expertise in fitting and component preparation ensures that every project meets rigorous engineering standards and structural integrity requirements.
Responsibilities- Translate complex fabrication drawings and shop sketches into accurate physical layouts.
- Assemble and tack-weld structural steel components to achieve precise alignment and dimensional accuracy.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify tolerances and ensure high-quality fit-up prior to final welding.
- Prepare steel surfaces and edges using grinders and oxy-fuel cutting equipment to meet project specifications.
- Coordinate with welding teams to optimize workflow and ensure components are ready for final production.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to maneuver heavy materials throughout the fabrication floor.
- Proactively troubleshoot assembly challenges to maintain project timelines and production efficiency.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in structural steel fitting or heavy metal fabrication.
- Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and shop details.
- Expertise with layout tools, including tape measures, levels, and squares.
- Demonstrated ability to operate shop equipment such as grinders and cutting torches.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on structural assembly processes.
Preferred Skills
- Prior certification or documented experience operating industrial forklifts and overhead cranes.
