About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Die Setter to ensure the safe and efficient setup and operation of machinery. In this role, you will be responsible for installing tooling, adjusting press settings, and troubleshooting issues to maintain production quality and efficiency. Your expertise in powder metal compacting and attention to detail will be critical to our success.
Responsibilities- Install and assemble tooling, including die cavities, punches, and core rods, ensuring proper setup and alignment.
- Calibrate press settings such as pressure, compaction speed, and dwell time to achieve desired part density and dimensions.
- Inspect compacted parts for dimensional accuracy, weight, and density, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the compaction process, escalating complex problems as necessary to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of adjustments made, issues encountered, and solutions implemented.
- Maintain tools and supplies in an organized manner according to shop floor criteria.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and participate in maintenance activities as required.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated experience with powder metal compacting.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances).
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Preferred Skills
- 5 years of experience in powder metal compacting.
- Manufacturing experience in metal forging.
- Familiarity with the metallurgical properties of ferrous/non-ferrous powders and forgings.
- Experience with quality inspection tools such as micrometers, hardness testers, and CMM.
