What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Control Assistant position at Abrasive-Form, Inc.?
Basic Function: Meet Customer’s needs by managing the sales order process, job assignment process and the coordination of shipping completed parts as directed by the customer.
Tasks:
- Provide customer service to a defined group of customers answering all questions regarding delivery status, technical specifications, order status, machine scheduling and performance via electronic schedule and or customer conference calls.
- Receive and review purchase orders and drawings.
- Open Sales orders in the computer system based on customer purchase orders received.
- Track the completion of open jobs and marks jobs closed or pending in the computer system.
- Maintain job files and customer databases through the use of internal, customer and vendor systems.
- Create custom reports for tracking jobs as needed.
- When necessary set up international shipments and arrange logistics.
- Physically manage the customer’s parts and all the relevant information that is collected and processed during the production cycle from receiving, through production, nonconforming part processing and shipping, take action as required to keep company on track with contractual and agreed to commitments.
- Actively evaluate jobs, processes, procedures and expenses and initiate improvements to maximize margins as necessary.
- Identify machine and potential capacity issues and report as needed to management.
- Identify and monitor adequate stock of perishable supplies to ensure that customer requirements are met without interruption.
- Report on status of customer programs on a monthly basis to senior management or more often as directed.
- Act as the voice of the customer, field calls and become key point of contact with customer on their parts as needed. Pull together other AAG team members as needed to solve ongoing issues as they arise.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by supervisor.
Skills:
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- The ability to verbally communicate information and ideas in English.
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft software and MRP planning software.
- Data manipulation via Excel and presentation skills using PowerPoint
Experience and Education:
- College degree or equivalent manufacturing experience preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years technical component manufacturing experience highly desired.
- Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable beneficial.
- Forklift experience helpful.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
- Physical strength to lift and carry 50 pounds frequently.
- Visual acuity to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
