Our client is a public accounting firm. They seek an Audit Senior, Real Estate to join their Manhattan, NY office.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate fieldwork activities related to assurance, review, compilation, and other financial reporting engagements for organizations involved in property ownership, development, management, and investment structures
- Analyze valuation techniques commonly used in property portfolios, including income-based projections, capitalization models, and comparable transaction data
- Perform detailed examination procedures such as transaction testing, internal process reviews, and financial trend analysis
- Detect potential engagement risks and contribute to the development of procedures designed to address those exposures
- Review operational processes and financial controls to determine effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement
- Assess financial records—including statements of financial position, operating results, and cash activity—to confirm completeness and reliability
- Verify that financial reporting aligns with applicable accounting frameworks and reporting conventions used for the engagement
- Investigate technical accounting questions through professional research and apply conclusions to engagement work
- Collaborate with engagement leadership to resolve complex reporting matters and help keep projects progressing on schedule
- Communicate with client representatives to obtain supporting documentation, clarify financial activity, and share observations from engagement work
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
- 2 years of audit experience
- Real estate or real estate funds industry
- Experience with fair value appraisals for real estate funds
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple assignments
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical thinking skills
- CPA preferred
