What are the responsibilities and job description for the Locum General Orthopedic Surgeon — 6-Month Full-Time Position in Berlin, NH position at AAS Healthcare Staffing?
We’re looking for a locum General Orthopedic Surgeon to join a supportive rural health system in Berlin, NH for about six months while a permanent provider is recruited. You’ll work with an established referral base and a collaborative multidisciplinary team—an excellent chance to practice broad-spectrum orthopedics in a community-focused setting.
Schedule and clinical duties
- Full-time assignment, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (1-hour lunch).
- OR days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday.
- Clinic days: Tuesday and Friday.
- Shared on-call rotation, roughly 10 call days per month.
What you’ll do
- Evaluate and treat the full range of general orthopedic conditions.
- Perform a wide variety of orthopedic surgical procedures, including total joint replacements.
- Manage outpatient clinic visits, surgical cases, inpatient consultations, and follow-up care.
- Participate in shared call coverage for orthopedic emergencies.
- Coordinate care with primary care providers and other specialists to ensure high-quality, patient-centered outcomes.
Experience we’re looking for
- Proven experience with total joint replacement surgery (hip, knee, shoulder) is required.
- Comfortable managing musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative conditions across an aging patient population.
- Experience with common hand conditions (e.g., trigger finger, carpal tunnel) is preferred.
- Experience evaluating and managing spine and back pain is highly preferred.
Credentials and requirements
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Active New Hampshire medical license or ability to obtain one quickly.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
