The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving net new business growth, expanding existing client relationships, and increasing market presence for the company’s tree care and urban forestry services. This role focuses on identifying, developing, and closing opportunities with commercial, municipal, HOA, property management, and institutional clients while working closely with the Urban Forest Manager to ensure operational feasibility, safety compliance, and service quality.Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales GrowthIdentify and pursue net new commercial, HOA/Multi-Family, and multi-site opportunities for tree care, vegetation management, and urban forestry servicesAbility to cold-call and prospect daily to drive top of funnel lead generationDevelop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects and active proposalsConduct site walks, client meetings, and needs assessments in coordination with the Urban Forest ManagerPrepare and present tree care presentations for a smooth transition allowing the Urban Forest Manager to negotiate proposals, contracts, and service agreementsDrive revenue growth through new accounts, renewals, and upselling of additional servicesClient Relationship ManagementBuild and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers (property managers, facility directors, municipalities, HOAs, developers, etc.)Serve as a primary point of contact during the pre-sale and handoff phasesEnsure client expectations are aligned with operational capabilities and safety standardsSupport client retention through proactive communication and solution-based selling Coordination with Urban Forest ManagerCollaborate on scope development, pricing strategy, and service recommendationsEnsure all proposed work aligns with arboricultural best practices, regulatory requirements, and company safety standardsCommunicate client priorities, timelines, and expectations to the Urban Forest Manager/operations teamsParticipate in post-job reviews and continuous improvement discussionsMarket & Strategic DevelopmentTrack market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities within the regionIdentify strategic partnerships and long-term contract opportunitiesRepresent the company at industry events, networking functions, and client meetingsSupport marketing initiatives and brand presence in the local marketReporting & AdministrationMaintain accurate records, forecasts, and activity reporting CRM or Sales Activity ReportsTrack proposal status, close rates, and revenue performanceProvide regular updates to the Urban Forest Manager and VP of Corporate Sales on pipeline health and growth initiatives QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred; background in arboriculture, forestry, horticulture, or environmental sciences is a plus but not required Industry experience (tree care, landscape, multi-family, HOA, commercial, construction, or related B2B services) preferred Demonstrated ability to prospect, build relationships through proactive outreach and strong follow-through Early- to mid-career sales professional with a strong desire to learn, earn, and advance Track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals, or clear evidence of competitiveness, hustle, and resilience in prior roles Comfortable learning technical concepts and translating them into clear value propositions for clientsAbility to prepare and present proposals confidently in one-on-one and small group settings Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen, ask strategic questions, and take accurate notes Highly motivated, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment Experience managing multiple prospects or accounts simultaneously and prioritizing effectively Proficient with Microsoft Office Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet client and business needs Valid driver’s license and clean driving record meeting company requirements Must be 21 years of age or older
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
