JOB DESCRIPTION
The Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) for the Adolescent Program will provide case management, group counseling, and ongoing clinical support for patients in an outpatient treatment program for Substance Use Disorder(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Engagement (60%)
- Conduct substance use treatment intakes and assessments. Determine medical necessity for substance use treatment including screening for detoxification needs, providing diagnostic evaluation of substance use disorders, and evaluating placement within ASAM criteria.
- Provide substance use individual and group clinical services including case management, skills training and coordination of care, as directed by individual treatment/service plans.
- Provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive individual clinical services including case management. Act assertively to include and engage family members as partners in treatment.
- Apply evidence-based group practices in educational, skills, and relapse prevention groups.
- Abide by company and program policies and procedures, confidentiality laws, professional boundaries, and relevant federal/state regulations and standards.
Documentation (30%)
- Produce accurate and timely strength-based documentation demonstrating clinical knowledge that is in alignment with agency protocols and payor regulations.
- Maintain client records to ensure compliance with agency and contract guidelines and confidentiality.
- Utilize collaborative documentation to elicit patient engagement and recovery-based language.
Program Coordination (10%)
- Coordinate service activities with other adolescent programs to ensure a holistic approach and seamless transition of services.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend supervision, team, and agency meetings as directed.
- Assist with other recovery support services as directed.
- This position may require handling and disposal of needles as part of clean-up duties, necessitating adherence to proper safety protocols to mitigate potential risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB/BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES
- Youth & Family Services. This position works directly with transition-age youth and their familial support systems: you must be skilled at navigating adolescent interactions and developmental milestones. You must also be skilled at managing and maintaining excellent professionalism and ethical boundaries.
- Clinical Setting. You must be able to perform professionally in a clinical treatment setting. This involves maintaining confidentiality and supporting a trauma-informed, holistic treatment environment.
- Skilled with Conflict Management. You must possess basic essential skills related to de-escalation and conflict resolution. With a community center open to all individuals who want a safe environment, this position requires managing and overseeing all interactions between clients/community members and navigating conflict in a safe and restorative manner.
- Service. You must support an organizational culture that reflects the value placed on high quality client services and inter-departmental collaboration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- This position typically requires at least a CADC-1 via MHACBO. Candidates with a CADC-R who have completed requirements for a CADC-1 but have not yet tested will be considered.
- For employees who identify as in recovery from SUD, this position requires at least two years of continuous abstinence from all forms of drugs and alcohol, except those prescribed by a doctor (excluding marijuana based on federal laws). Two years of recovery is required per MHACBO specifications.
- Must have reliable transportation or maintain a valid driver’s license for the state of residency and have a driving record permitting coverage under the corporate liability policy. If driving a personal vehicle for work purposes must also have and maintain personal auto liability coverage. All employees driving for work purposes, regardless of whether driving a personal or agency vehicle, must complete the agency’s driving approval process before they drive for work.
- Must be able to pass Oregon Criminal History and Abuse Records Data System (ORCHARDS) background check per Oregon Department Human Services (ODHS) and Oregon Health Authority (OHA) standards prior to engaging with clients.
- Understanding of multiple pathways to recovery and recovery support services.
- Able to establish and maintain professional boundaries while providing supportive services and building trusting relationships with clients, staff and community partners.
- Functional ability with Google Suite programs including: GMail, GDrive, GCalendar, GDocs, etc.
- Ability to create detailed reports as requested.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Excellent communication, trauma-informed approach and conflict resolution skills.
- Well-developed documentation skills and a strong commitment to quality management; ability to write accurate and concise reports while meeting tight deadlines.
- Must be dependable, flexible and punctual, and exhibit strong time management skills.
- Able to clearly articulate information to people of varying cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds. Able to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing.
- Able to problem solve and develop creative approaches.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two years experience working with minority communities, especially transition age youth demographics, and knowledge of the current disparities that certain communities of service users may face more broadly in society.
- At least one year of work experience in a clinical substance use treatment setting.
- Familiarity with QPR and crisis intervention.
- CADC I, II, or III (includes a wage differential upon achievement of CADC I).
- QMHA or QMHP.
- CRM I or II.
JOB DETAILS
Pay: $29.00 - $32.00 per hour, Full-time
Schedule: Generally Monday-Friday, approximately 12:00pm-8:00pm. Some exceptions may be made for client needs or additional meetings.
