Lead Solar Technician

Responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and performance of commercial PV solar assets, ensuring maximum availability, contractual compliance, and budget performance. This role reports to the Plant Manager and supports daily plant operations, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain safe and reliable operation of PV solar plants and balance-of-plant systems.
• Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems.
• Monitor vendor and third-party maintenance activities.
• Manage spare parts, tools, equipment, and maintenance inventory.
• Perform quality inspections and maintain accurate plant records/logs.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Develop work procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Communicate operational issues and updates with site leadership.
• Support after-hours, overtime, and emergency response as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of commercial solar operations experience OR 5 years of instrumentation & controls, MV/HV electrical, or equivalent experience.
• Experience operating and maintaining electrical generation facilities and HV switchyards.
• Knowledge of PV systems, SCADA, electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, and CMMS systems (SAP preferred).
• Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings and safely perform equipment maintenance.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Journeyman Electrician certification or technical training preferred.
