Account Clerk/ Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Description

• Performs work under general supervision, with flexibility to exercise independent judgment while following established procedures.
• Reports to the Accounts Payable Manager.
• Responsible for performing various accounting and accounts payable functions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education:
• • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
• Experience: One of the following:
• • Four years of experience maintaining financial accounts and records, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Four years of generalized clerical experience plus the required financial accounts and records experience.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience within the stated requirements.
• Preferred:
• • Experience with Microsoft Office products.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct audits of various accounts, claims, and records.
• Prepare reports related to accounts payable activities.
• Handle invoicing and accounting for large amounts of money related to various bills and financial obligations.
• Maintain and organize financial records in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.
• Audit, verify, and process daily student and non-student check runs.
• Conduct correspondence related to financial matters, primarily with college vendors.
• Follow up with college offices regarding:
• • Payment authorizations.
  • Invoices.
  • Purchase orders.
• Assist with year-end processes in preparation for the annual financial audit.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
