Job purpose

Thi s position is responsible for the indirect supervision and direction of the Quality Control Team for tactical activities for multiple process areas related to in process, final and incoming inspection

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for inspection of highly complex electrical and mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Responsible for the generation of inspection reports.
  • Responsible for managing moderate to complex tasks with minimal direction.
  • Responsible for facilitating the disposition of nonconforming material.
  • Responsible for coordinating inspection priorities within the QA department and with other department managers within operations.
  • Responsible for providing direction and clarity in the inspection activities of lower-level QA inspectors.
  • Responsible for creating and revising inspection instructions.
  • Participate in interviewing potential candidates applying for QA inspection positions.
  • Responsible for adhering to quality policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for clearly communicating relevant QA operational problems to the QA manager and other department managers within operations.
  • May provide guidance to QA Inspectors levels I,II and III
  • Responsible for performing other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Tracks group production vs. targets and initiates problem solving techniques and corrective actions to close gaps
  • Demonstrates and understands the impact of quality and is focused on ensuring work and work of those around them adhere to the quality standards and goals.
  • Provides or coordinates training, work with employees to correct deficiencies, and ensures quality standards are met.
  • Demonstrates consistent personal responsibility for quality outputs.
  • Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues related to process flow.

Qualifications

  • Technical associate’s degree, 5 years of quality assurance work experience / 1 year leadership experience or at least 10 years relevant quality assurance experience and 5 years leadership; Proven track record of leading teams
  • General working knowledge of using a computer PC (knowledge of Microsoft Office applications highly desirable).
  • Must have the ability to obtain a valid IPC-A-610 certification required at time of hire.
  • Must be able to read parts lists, manufacturing drawings, wiring diagrams or schematics and engineering change notices.
  • Must be familiar with the use of basic measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, pin gages, etc).
  • Applied applications of a Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Position will require proficient knowledge and application of GD&T
