Role Description:

The VP, HR Global VMRD is a key member of the HR Leadership Team and strategic HR business partner to Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development (VMRD). In this role, the incumbent will ensure HR strategies support the business needs and objectives, directs the implementation and prioritization of integrated talent strategies for their assigned business stakeholders. Additionally, the incumbent ensures the HR Business Partners reporting to him/her/they develop and execute the HR programs as necessary to meet business needs with global consistency, where applicable. The incumbent partners with business leaders and HR leaders to establish the talent pipeline for critical functional positions and partners closely with the in-market HR Business Partners in the execution of talent strategies and the development of functional talent pipelines. This is a Kalamazoo-based role which requires an on-site presence at least 3 days each week.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the business strategy and drive key human capital strategies that further the business objectives
  • Partner with business unit leadership team (and their leadership teams as may be necessary) to provide a point of view focusing on the people strategy and talent management priorities
  • Drive HR program and service delivery effectiveness and collaborate with the HR Centers of Excellence (e.g., Total Rewards and Talent) and HR Leadership to deliver effective HR solutions aligned to business strategies
  • Embrace and maximize the HR Service Delivery model (e.g., HR shared services (Zoetis Colleague Services)) and drive this mindset throughout the HR Business Partners
  • Collaborate and proactively manage relationships with business executives, HR Leadership, and HR Business Partners to ensure programs and strategy are aligned with the appropriate operating level strategy as well as the overall HR strategy
  • Direct the HR Business Partners in the implementation of HR strategies and programs in collaboration with country HR as appropriate
  • Drive consistency of strategy execution (as appropriate) among all HR Business Partners and act as the final escalation point
  • Build and execute workforce and succession plans including an overview of current talent
  • Implement talent management programs for assigned business groups utilizing corporate talent tools and resources to ensure appropriate talent pipeline is in place
  • Collect, analyze, and articulate business requirements and challenges, and translate them into executable HR initiatives
  • Partner with and coach business leaders and their leadership teams to implement optimal organization structures at all levels of the business
  • Create a culture that enables organizational change and drives adoption of large scale transformation initiatives as necessary
  • Act as a change champion by developing and implementing a structured approach to change initiatives that will enable organizational transitions
  • Enable managers to develop colleagues in alignment with business strategies by suggesting a variety of development activities (i.e., rotations, projects, etc.)
  • Foster an HR Business Partner community to promote individual and team growth and development through mentoring and coaching
  • Work with HR Centers of Excellence to identify new opportunities for improved workforce performance including leveraging DEI and Talent strategies
  • Work with the Business Development team on transactions, due diligence and integrations, as necessary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY, REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated understanding of Zoetis business strategy

  • Strong understanding of Zoetis HR strategies, practices and policies, including compensation and benefits

  • Ability to breakdown complex situations into individual components and understand the interrelationship between these components

  • Adept at flexible and creative problem-solving
  • Demonstrated success in people management and development
  • Able to appropriately push back and challenge the status quo
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with senior level managers and executives
  • HR Information Systems experience preferred, Workday a plus
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Able and willing to regularly travel

QUALIFICATIONS (TRAINING, EDUCATION, PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or JD preferred
  • 10 years of related HR experience
  • People management experience
