Role Description
The Senior Finance Analyst - VMRD (Veterinary Medicine Research & Development) will provide strategic business support to VMRD as well as partner with other functions across the organization as opportunities arise (e.g. Business Development, Financial Planning & Analysis). This role provides key stakeholders with the analysis and information they need to make operational, financial, and strategic decisions, and ensures that financial reporting is accurate and internal controls are followed. This includes month-end close activities and accruals, project expense analysis including AFW (authorization for work) and forecast credit projections and true-ups, support with preparation of monthly VMLT (vet med leadership team) budget updates, capital project creation, tracking and close-out, support during the periodic forecast and annual operating plan processes, preparation of financial models, and preparation of ad-hoc analyses as requested by the business or finance. This role will be the primary contact for external audit inquiries regarding project accruals and other R&D requests. The role requires interaction across functions and business areas and a strong understanding of research and development accounting policies and procedures.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
-Ensure accurate and timely analysis and recognition of expense for global VMRD projects, including monthly accruals, support of Project Management colleagues, AFW and forecast credit analysis and communication, audit support
-Month/quarter/year end close activities including working with business partners for accruals (VIM, FOM, etc), and submission of regularly-occurring journal entries and reclasses/allocations
-Assist with preparation of monthly VMLT reports, HQ variance/bridges
-Assist with preparation and submission of LE forecasts and annual Operating Plans
-Variance analysis - monthly and annual trends; response to SOX and flux requests
-Identify and propose process improvements, simplification, analysis
-Capital project creation, tracking and close-out
-Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed to support business needs
-Collaborate in timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, Zoetis policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations
-Work closely with the US Controllership team to ensure the proper accounting of items within the financial statements
-Ensure an effective internal control environment.
