Job Summary

The Fiber Optic Technician is responsible forengaging and developing customer relationships and providing solutions to ourcustomers through Ziply Fiber products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

TheEssential Duties and Responsibilities listed below are a range of dutiesperformed by the employee and not intended to reflect all duties performed.

·Provide a best-in-class customerexperience and serve as an ambassador of Ziply Fiber within our communities.

·Understand and adhere to companysafety protocols and policies.

·Work aloft on ladders againstbuildings or poles while connecting, installing or repairing fiber.

·Understand and demonstrate basicvoice and data, uses and applications.

·Install and maintain residential andcommercial fiber data and voice services, including equipment such as fiber drops,ONTs, routers, Wi-Fi extenders and inside premises wiring.

·Use and understand automated dispatchequipment (i.e., handheld terminals), and appropriate test equipment to verifyproper installation and/or repair.

·Read and understand fiber serviceorders and service calls.

·Adapt to changes in the business toinclude advances in technology, new skills, and procedures.

·Communicate effectively andaccurately with customers to reduce repeat service calls.

·Be self-motivated and follow throughon assignments to completion in a timely manner.

·Read and interpret outside plantdrawings for drop placement, customer service orders and repair tickets.

·Support, install, and repair companyproducts and services.

·Promote and create sales leads of thecompany’s products and services, participate in the company’s sales referralprograms during assigned working hours.

·Complete company provided training.

·Maintain a professional appearanceand manner at all times.

·Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

·High school diploma or equivalent.

·Experience supporting and interacting withcustomers preferred.

·1-2 years of experience in fiber data and voiceinstallation and maintenance preferred.

·Must possess and maintain a validState Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.

·Additional certification, licensing,or experience (i.e., hosted voice, ethernet, Fiber, Optics, flagging, CPR etc.)is a plus.

·Understand different PC operating systems.

·Telecommunications wiring color-codecompetency.

·Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Knowledge, Skills,and Abilities:

·Ability to work nightsand weekends, as well as on-call rotation as required.

·Ability to work aloft fromheights on poles and ladders.

·Ability to follow throughon jobs to completion in a timely manner.

·Ability to remain calm inhigh stress situations and demonstrate good judgment.

·Basic keyboard and software skills.

·Good mathematicsskills.

·Active listening,decision making and strong problem-solving skills.

·Ability to communicateeffectively with customers and provide excellent customer service.

·Strong verbal andwritten communication skills.

·Ability to read and understand road maps, discern street signsand address numbers.

·Ability to beunaffected by flashing lights and strobes.

·Ability to operate equipment to perform theessential functions of the job (i.e., splicing tools, test equipment,computer/laptop, phone, and company vehicle.)

·Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safeand responsible manner.

Physical Requirements

Fiber Optic Technician work involves drivinga motor vehicle and must be able to regularly and safely perform all functions of operating a motor vehicle. Essential and marginal functions mayrequire maintaining physical condition necessary to frequently stand, walk, climb,or sit for prolonged periods of time and regularly position oneself (i.e., bend,twist, reach, grasp, push, pull) to handle, lift and carry objects over 50 lbs.

Work Environment

The Fiber OpticTechnician will frequently work in cold or hot temperatures and at heights over15 feet. Work occasionally will be in confined spaces (i.e., attics, crawlspaces, trenches) and involve moderate to high noise levels. The Fiber OpticTechnician will also work near power lines and electricity, as well as work andtravel in inclement weather.
