ZINC Zillow, Inc. is Hiring a Remote Senior Government Relations Manager

About the team The Government Relations (GR) team operates at the intersection of policy, industry, and product to enable Zillow to deliver an easier, end-to-end real estate experience for our customers and partners. GR engages with policymakers, regulators, non-profit partners, and industry associations to help protect and grow Zillow’s business. As a member of Zillow’s GR team, you'll be part of a diverse, nationally distributed government relations team, working across all levels of government, regions, product areas, and technology and real estate. About the role The Senior Government Relations Manager will be an advocate for Zillow on a broad range of issues impacting housing, finance, insurance, and technology. Reporting to the Director of Federal Government Relations, you will work with federal agencies and Members of Congress to advocate for Zillow’s public policy priorities, anchored around promoting ease, affordability and security in housing for all consumers. The ideal candidate will have deep relationships with Democratic policymakers, while also demonstrating a track record of building meaningful bipartisan relationships to achieve desired policy outcomes. To be successful in this role you must be adept at engaging with senior leaders and communicating across multiple teams to provide strategic guidance and tactical direction on government related issues. You are a versatile problem solver who can make key decisions and take action independently. While a background in housing is not required, you must be a self starter motivated to quickly learn these issue areas. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to: Work closely with our executive team and engage with them on various government relations efforts impacting the business Collaborate with our corporate social responsibility team on creating and promoting new products to improve housing outcomes Advocate for policies that increase housing access and affordability, make renting, buying, and selling easier, and improve consumers’ ability to shop for real estate in a secure online environment. Engage directly with Members of Congress and federal agency officials to promote Zillow’s public policy priorities Attend political events as a representative of Zillow Group’s Political Action Committee (ZG PAC) Gather and disseminate political intelligence that informs the company’s corporate strategy Maintain relationships with industry trade associations and NGOs to amplify our company profile and priorities This role has been categorized as a Hybrid position. “Hybrid” employees regularly work at an existing ZG corporate office for approximately 10 to 80 percent of their time each month, and the rest of the time they may work from a remote physical location of their choice within a reasonable commuting distance from the corporate office which must be identified to the Company in advance. The Recruiter and Hiring Manager will set expectations on the employee’s preferred time in office. ZG has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute. In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Who you are At least 10 years combined experience working in or with the federal government as a Democratic staff member, policy leader, and/or in a federal lobbying role Deep understanding of federal regulatory structure and rulemaking process with the skills to connect political realities and business objectives. Experience working in a federal agency or as staff to a Congressional committee focused on consumer protection or competition issues Familiarity with policy issues impacting technology companies and online platforms Adaptability to an environment of innovation, constant change, and company growth Efficient and great at communicating up, down, and across the organizations Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to travel approximately 10% Get to know us Zillow is reimagining real estate to make home a reality for more and more people.
