Description

Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for nearly 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff. We are currently seeking a full-time LPN for our Opiate Treatment Program. The person in this position would be knowledgeable of and skilled in general nursing procedures; i.e., record keeping, medications, and storage and administration of medications, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Open clinic when needed and perform usual early morning duties.
  • Records Methadone discrepancies and computer correcting
  • Review files of all patients discharged to ensure compliance with established protocols, medical policies and procedures, and files are appropriately documented and in correct order.
  • Works closely with the physician and properly triages patients to ensure quality patient care.
  • Record refrigerator temperature in log ledger.
  • Check inventories and first aid kit monthly.
  • Monitors patient urine/drug screens and processes all related paperwork.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Medical Services Supervisor.
  • Methadone dispensing
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Competencies:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to implement care within the framework of standard nursing practice and agency policy and procedure; ability to make sound medical decisions and respond appropriately during an emergency situation.
  • Knowledge and ability to administer methadone in accordance with physicians’ orders.
  • Knowledge of community resources, hospitals, community mental health services, and other appropriate referrals for use when indicated.
  • Knowledge of drugs of abuse and effects on the human body (especially during withdrawal), ability to determine if a patient has consumed alcohol and other drugs prior to receiving methadone dosage.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain licensure and provide documentation for personnel records.

Starting pay rate $21.50, based on years of licensure.

 May be eligible for a bonus if certain conditions apply, including not having worked in Community behavioral health in the last 30 days.

Requirements

  • Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing and have certification allowing the administration of medication.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of addiction, detoxification, and the recovery process.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Must be able to function positively and effectively with patients, the Medical Director, and other staff members.
  • Knowledge and adherence to CARF standards.
  • CPR/BLS and First Aid trained, and Crisis Prevention (CPI) trained.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, accurate notes, and compliance with laws and standards of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of the assigned duties.
  • Must be able to function in a changing environment effectively.
  • Must have medical knowledge and experience to accomplish all assigned nursing responsibilities.
  • Must have the necessary skills and abilities required to comfortably and effectively work with patients and be responsive to their mental and physical needs.
  • Ability to maintain licensure/credentials.
