Technical Writer - U.S. Citizenship Required

Overview:

One of our contracts under The Department of State is seeking a Technical Writer who has a strong work ethic, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and great attention to detail. The role is on a cross-functional team so the candidate must be willing to provide support to all members of the product team including but not limited to creating documentation, interfacing with end-users, troubleshooting, requirements gathering, and manual testing.

Clearance Status: Interim Secret (minimum requirement) with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Work Schedule: 5 days per week onsite

Work Location: Springfield, VA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft and/or edit content such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), online help articles, training material, and meeting notes
  • Analyze complex and technical information required for product development
  • Produce quality content with prompt delivery of all task and contractual deliverables associated with product development within the cadence of a two-week Agile sprint
  • Assist in meeting facilitation, including contributing to discussion and taking detailed meeting notes
  • Meet with subject-matter experts to collect and synthesize information, prepare written text and produce technical content that enhances the user experience
  • Assist with requirements gathering and planning sessions to produce accurate user-facing documentation
  • Maintain and organize the internal document library

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be a United States Citizen and present proof of Citizenship, if selected
  • 3 Years of experience as Technical Writer, Business Analyst, and/or similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (English, Literature, and/or Writing a plus) or equivalent work experience
  • Well-versed in Agile with a familiarity with IT
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. This includes being able to present information in a concise and logical way for reader comprehension
  • Experience creating analysis documentation for multiple audiences
  • Experience creating and using infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, charts, workflows, and graphics that increase users’ understanding
  • Experience working with technical and non-technical team members, and stakeholders at different levels in the IT field
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
