Zenith is Hiring an Assistant Vice President, Association and Community Relations Near Fresno, CA

This role is eligible to participate in Zenith’s hybrid work schedule which provides the flexibility to work from home on select days of the week according to the in-office schedule established by regional executive leadership.

Incumbent will assist Zenith in building its presence in the Agriculture, Hospitality, Healthcare, Education and various other segments of Zenith's book. This Leader will work collaboratively with Marketing to build out a reciprocal relationship-based presence where Zenith's model becomes understood and long-term partnerships are nurtured. Success in the role will involve both strengthening Zenith's internal processes, and representing Zenith in its external relationships with associations, community partners, brokers and customers. Zenith focuses on long-term decision-making and investment.

Stage One – Onboarding & Capabilities Evaluation (six months):

  • Learn Zenith’s approach, culture, people and capabilities in the broader business.
  • Learn Zenith’s approach, philosophy and capabilities in its relationships with Associations and in its market segments.
  • Spend time with key Zenith personnel and departments and in key Zenith locations. E.g., subject to discussion and adjustment:
    • All CA offices
    • Meetings with Department leaders for Claims, UW, Marketing, S&H
    • Over time, potential for discussions with non-CA regions to evaluate their engagement with Associations.
  • Provide an initial analysis of current abilities and resources needed to advance Zenith’s presence in the
    space.
  • Participate in ongoing meetings with external parties, with increasing responsibility in subsequent phases for taking the lead in external relationships that drive business.

Stage Two – Critical work and initial hire (6 months – 1 year):

  • Refine analysis of abilities and resources and identify critical resources and work to be prioritized first.
  • Work with stakeholders and resources to close critical gaps in abilities needed before all others.
  • Support the development of new business, renewal retention and customer service by working with our association leaders and members, agents, policyholders and Zenith team members.

Stage Three - Capabilities Build (1-3 years):

  • Continue and accelerate engagement with Association Board Members, Executive Leadership, Membership and potential buyers.
  • Develop new contacts with community leaders in positions of influence.
  • Work with stakeholders and resources to continue to close gaps in abilities needed for execution.
  • Continue working with cross-departmental and cross-territory resources to advance this effort.
  • Evaluate other external engagement opportunities (Association Meetings and Sponsorships).
  • Continue engagement with Zenith territories.
  • Consider approaches to educate and enhance the knowledge base of existing Zenith staff regarding emerging issues and industry trends.

Stage Four – Execution (3 years and beyond):

  • Refinement of program and staff.
  • Continue education of internal staff, the market, brokers and customers.
  • Determine additional enhancements needed.
  • Through these stages, our Leader will build Zenith’s operations, our reputation in the market, our business opportunities, and our overall relevance. Ultimately, the perception of Zenith as an expert will continually improve, our team focused in this area will grow in size and expertise, with behaviors that position Zenith positively in the risk management area, all of which will lead to more growth opportunities.

  • Overnight travel required including out of state.

The expected salary range for this position is $130,000 to $175,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
