Position Description

The Senior Coordinator for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in the Office of the Administrator (A/AID) serves as the Agency lead on all matters of gender equality policy and programming, as the Agency works to improve the lives of people around the world by addressing the distinct and intersectional needs of women and girls, men and boys, in all their diversity, in our development and humanitarian work, as well as the norms and systems that hinder optimal outcomes. The Senior Gender Coordinator also leads coordination on gender equality between USAID and the interagency community, including information and recommendations from USAID to the White House, the Department of State, and other government departments and agencies on all matters of gender equality.

Location: In OfficePosition Type: Full-Time (5 days/week)Salary Range: Starting at $94,199

Clearance: Able to obtain a secret level clearance (US citizenship required)

Responsibilities

The Program Analyst is assigned to the Senior Coordinator for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GEWE) and performs routine tasks to provide assistance in drafting briefing materials as well as in the areas of research, analysis, reporting, policy, planning, and/or internal program operations. The incumbent serves as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, resolving inquiries and coordinating with other bureaus and independent offices. The incumbent will work to monitor and support progress toward completion of programmatic goals. The incumbent assists Bureaus and Independent Offices within the Agency in producing timely, accurate, and quality responses and products, including by implementing and managing processes and procedures to ensure prompt and efficient products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Serves as a liaison with other offices and teams within USAID Missions, Bureaus, Independent Offices, and with the interagency, to advance policy and programming priorities;

•Performs quality control for documents processed through the Senior Coordinator for submission to the USAID Front Office, White House, and Congress;

•Drafts, formats, and edits various program documents and correspondence such as memos, reports to the White House and interagency, Congressional requests, briefing materials, and talking points ensuring that all documentation is written in clear and concise language, and is technically accurate;

•Distributes assignments to appropriate bureaus or independent offices, monitors due dates, and follows-up on completion of tasks and submission of deliverables;

•Supports the Senior Gender Coordinator’s Mission, Bureau, and interagency outreach and relationship management;

•Prepares briefing books for the Senior Gender Coordinator and distributes materials accordingly;

•Facilitates the Senior Gender Coordinator’s internal and external communication with USAID, interagency, and civil society officials;

•Communicates urgent or significant issues, updates, and deadlines with staff and managers at all levels with tact and diplomacy orally and in writing;

•Collects and compiles data for use in regular and ad hoc reporting on the status of programs from various sources such as USAID reports and documents and technical staff;

•Researches, plans, analyzes, and organizes technical information and data for use in memos, briefings, publications, and reports;

•Maintains or provide assistance with administrative and financial tracking systems, and assist in the design and maintenance of spreadsheets and databases to support these systems;

•Prepares budget tracking sheets as needed;

•Provides technical assistance as requested or assigned;

•Keeps abreast of new developments and emerging issues by attending meetings, workshops and staying current with policies; formulate recommendations for Bureau actions in response to these developments and shares with colleagues; and

•Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree is required with six (6) years of relevant experience. 

Able to obtain a Secret Level Clearance (US citizenship required)
