Job Description

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, seeks a Buyer for our location in Wheatland, PA. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this person will be responsible for all Procurement related activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work directly with planning to generate and convert purchase requisitions to purchase orders
• Issue purchase orders to suppliers
• Manage the daily purchasing requirements and assist in ongoing cost savings initiatives
• Maintain stock levels for clerical, lunchroom, and janitorial supplies
• Negotiate with external vendors on small and large scale short and long term contracts
• Evaluate vendors on quality, service, cost, and delivery for best value initiatives; perform regular audits on preferred vendors
• Work with accounts payable to resolve invoice and purchase order issues

• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of an Associate’s Degree with emphasis in Business/Purchasing or Marketing
• 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or similar role

REQUIREMENTS:

• SAP experience preferred but not required
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to take initiative, work independently and follow through on projects
• Top-notch communications skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to immediately report suspected security incidents and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
• Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
