Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the operations processing equipment and assures production quality standards are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist production manager with expectations in responsibilities as they relate to management of production, processes, policies, and staffing.
Lead shift operators to ensure that all tasks are completed according to established procedures and in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. Communicates regularly with all process operators on shift, both individually and as a group to ensure consistent operation.
Manage staffing & training for direct reports.
Physically monitor process temperatures, pressures, material flows and levels to evaluate process operations.
Complete sanitation work of areas as assigned.
Receive and inspect incoming raw materials, process aids, and packaging materials relevant to department.
Take samples of products, analyze quality, and record resulting test data.
Maintain logs of instrument readings observed during hourly rounds.
Make necessary physical adjustments to meet desired operating parameters.
Notify management of operational, food safety, or personnel concerns.
Communicates regularly with all necessary personnel to ensure efficient plan operation.
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety requirements.
Provides a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Multiple direct reports within the facility.
Assist with interviewing, selecting, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and Experience:
Education: High School or Equivalent
Experience : 1 year in manufacturing related field, preferred. Experience supervising others in a significant segment of a large manufacturer or operation, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and senior level management.
Proficiently working with various software programs.
Ability to maintain good attendance habits.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Frequently required to walk, stand, sit.
Occasionally required to climb to levels of 125 feet or more, confined, and harnessed. Use of stairs and ladders may be required.
Occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more.
Operate in an office and production environment. Production environment could include frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat or cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the production environment is usually very loud.
