Zbiotics is Hiring a Supply Chain Coordinator Near San Francisco, CA

About ZBiotic
At ZBiotics, we make genetically engineered probiotics that improve daily life. As a group of motivated, yet down-to-earth people, we are fueled by two things: a love for science and a commitment to being people-first. GMO products like ours, designed to benefit individuals rather than corporations, are the future. As the first to market, we believe it's our duty to set a high bar for product quality, safety, and transparency for others to follow.
In 2019, we launched the world's first genetically engineered probiotic: a 15mL probiotic drink designed to break down an alcohol byproduct that leads to rough mornings after drinking. Since then, ZBiotics' business has continued to grow rapidly year over year.
We are preparing to launch our second product, a genetically engineered probiotic with a new function related to microbiome health.
The Impact You'll Have
As our Supply Chain Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with the Supply Chain team to manage the Procure to Pay process across ZBiotic's Supply Chain, including third-party suppliers and manufacturers. The insight and visibility that you provide will empower ZBiotics to make the right choices needed to accomplish our goals and vision.
As a growing startup that began as a DTC, your work will be instrumental in expanding our reach to new distribution channels, retail, and international expansion. You'll help elevate a growing brand on a mission to carve out a new industry category: GMO Probiotics.

  • Tracking and following through on all shipments.
  • Serving as a liaison between suppliers, carriers, and warehouses.
  • Issuing POs as-required by the production plan and approved by the Senior Buyer/Planner.
  • Performing a "3-way match" on all shipments: PO quantity and pricing, receipt quantity, and supplier/manufacturer Invoice quantity and pricing.
  • Communicating ETAs and status of loads to the Supply Chain team and other stakeholders as-needed.
  • Collaborating around Month End Close under direction of the Senior Buyer/Planner.
  • Quickly and proactively resolving problems that may develop while shipments are in transit.
  • Continually negotiating the best tracking and shipping rates possible.
  • Maintaining electronic records of all communication and rate information.
  • Keeping stakeholders informed on current trucking and shipping sources.
  • Managing and auditing invoice processing.
  • Collaborating with the Senior Buyer/Planner regarding inventory management and reconciliation.
  • Accurately collecting, filing, and maintaining all documents associated with inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Holding freight partners to expected levels of service.
  • Supporting and troubleshooting transportation partner accounts.
About You
If your experience doesn't align perfectly but you are a dedicated, quick learner, please apply!
Must-haves:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years' relevant experience in Supply Chain, Business, or Finance (i.e. purchasing, accounts payable, procurement). Equivalent experience in the industry is also acceptable.
  • Experience in purchasing management, project management, and data management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles.
  • Strong experience with analytics, spreadsheet creation, communication, problem solving, continuous improvement, customer service, and team building skills.
Nice-to-haves:
  • CPG or Food industry experience.

  • Get up to speed with our Supplier Base: what do we buy from who, general replenishment timing and quantities.
  • Participate in weekly and bi-weekly meetings.
  • Learn our MRP and warehouse management systems, including ShipBob Dashboard and Amazon Seller Central.
By day 60, you will ...
  • Receive training on the Procure-to-Pay process using Ramp (AP system): issue POs, confirm and enter receipts (close POs), and pay supplier invoices (confirm quantity, pricing and payment terms).
  • Review and become familiar with our sales forecasting process.
  • Train on the OPO Tracker (used for Month End Close).
  • Train on executing freight bookings.
In day 90, you will ...
  • Take over the procure-to-pay process: issuing supplier POs, booking freight, confirming receipts/follow up with CMs, reconciling discrepancies, processing supplier invoices.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Senior Buyer/Planner in support of managing the production planning process.
  • Support the Senior Buyer/Planner in Month End Close and reconciliation.
This role is perfect for you if ...
  • You're excited to have lots of autonomy and responsibility right out the gate.
  • You optimize for impact, know when detailed work is necessary, and don't over-analyze.
  • You love helping others, but you know how to manage your time and don't overpromise.
  • You're excited to work for a growing startup with opportunities to take on new challenges over time.
  • You embody the ZBiotics values of Humanity, Integrity, Citizenship, and Science.
    • Humanity - We always put people first, especially our customers.
    • Integrity - We communicate honestly and deliver high quality always.

This position includes a learning stipend and opportunities for coaching and training. Associates will have the option to work remotely day-to-day, have full access to coworking offices in downtown San Francisco, and will need to attend occasional events.
The base salary for this position is $80,000 / year, and may include equity. A presented offer may be higher, depending on qualifications and experience.
We encourage you to apply!
At ZBiotics, we value our differences, and we encourage all - especially those whose identities are traditionally underrepresented in tech organizations - to apply.
