Zayo is seeking an experienced Security Scrum Master to oversee and guide our Scrum teams, with an added focus on integrating security practices into the agile workflow. The Security Scrum Master's responsibilities extend to ensuring that development teams adhere to Scrum framework values and agile practices, mentoring and motivating the teams towards continual process improvement, facilitating meetings and decision-making processes, and proactively eliminating team impediments. A critical aspect of this role will be to weave cybersecurity measures seamlessly into the development lifecycle, ensuring that products are not only delivered efficiently but also securely.
To excel in this role, candidates must possess a deep understanding of agile methodologies and a proven track record of effectively managing and mentoring development teams towards high performance. The ideal Security Scrum Master will have outstanding interpersonal, project management, and problem-solving skills, with a special emphasis on security-minded practices. This position requires an individual who can foster a culture of transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement, while prioritizing the protection of our products and infrastructure against emerging security threats.
Responsibilities
Facilitate Agile Ceremonies: Lead and facilitate Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, fostering open communication and collaboration among team members.
Coach and Mentor Teams: Provide guidance to development teams on Agile principles and Scrum practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability.
Remove Impediments: Identify and eliminate impediments to the team's progress, ensuring a smooth and efficient development process.
Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with product owners to understand and prioritize requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
Promote Agile Mindset: Encourage and promote an Agile mindset throughout the organization, emphasizing the importance of agility, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Metrics and Reporting: Track and report key Agile metrics, such as velocity and burndown charts, to monitor team progress and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications, Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of product or project development experience, or 3 years of project development experience on an Agile Team or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles
Scrum Master Certification from Scaled Agile Inc., Scrum Alliance, Scrum.org, IC Agile or similar. Experience working in a Scaled Agile Enterprise (SAFe), preferred
Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices.
Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills
Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques
