Position Description
Title: Youth Employment Services Coordinator
Department: Resident Services
Supervisor: Resident Services Supervisor
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for coordinating and providing services to resident youth (ages 16 to 24) and
Muskingum County youth involved in the YES (Youth Employment Services) Program.
Performs a variety of tasks involving planning, coordinating, and implementing efforts designed to assist youth in becoming self-sufficient young adults. Specific duties include the following:
Qualifications and Knowledge
Bachelor's Degree in Social Science or a related field preferred. Two years of experience working with youth, or a combination of education and experience.
Good general knowledge of social work and resources available through community service agencies.
General knowledge of various computer programs, including: Word, Excel, PDF and Publisher.
Must know how to use the internet. Knowledge of audio-visual setup and troubleshooting.
Ability to address the public and present information in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to deal effectively with situations that require tact and diplomacy yet firmness.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with other employees, residents, and community agencies and other activities that provide services.
Reliable personal transportation and insurance coverage.
Must be bondable.
Valid Ohio driver's license
Eligibility for coverage under Authority fleet auto insurance.
Supervision Received and Given
Generally, assignments and instructions from the Resident Services Supervisor are broad, though there are intermittent occasions when the employee receives specific instructions. The employee initiates and performs routine activities without supervisory direction. Problems or situations that arise and are not covered by instructions are either dealt with independently, or in consultation with the supervisor. The employee's work is reviewed periodically for adherence to policies and the attainment of objectives.
The employee does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.
Guidelines
The employee follows regulations and guidelines issued by the Workforce Investment and
Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and local
Muskingum County Jobs and Family Services (MCJFS)/ Ohio Means Jobs (OMJ); as well as
Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority's policies and procedures. Frequently the employee acts independently in making decisions about the best course of action. For situations for which there are no guidelines, the employee may adapt existing guidelines, develop new guidelines, make a decision based on the circumstances, or seek guidance from the supervisor. When new guidelines are required, the employee develops them in consultation with the Resident Services
Supervisor.
Complexity
Work performed by the employee is routine in nature. The employee identifies work that needs to be done, prioritizes, coordinates efforts, and performs tasks. Occasionally the employee must make decisions regarding unusual or sensitive situations and must develop new solutions.
Scope and Effect
The employee's work primarily affects ZMHA's residents, but also Muskingum County residents. Successful implementation of the Youth Employment Services program results in significant improvement in the lives of ZMHA's residents and Muskingum County residents that are assisted by the program.
Physical Demands
Work is performed both in the office and in the community. The employee may sit comfortably to do the work or may be exposed to weather conditions. The work may involve some walking, running, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying of light or heavy items, and driving an automobile.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
