Pay: $15.00 to $18.00 per hour

Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and some Saturdays - 3pm to 7pm

Description:

The primary role of this role is to support the dietary needs of patients or residents

Responsibilities:

• Dietary aides are responsible for preparing and serving meals to patients or residents according to specific dietary guidelines provided by healthcare professionals. This includes adhering to any dietary restrictions, allergies, or medical conditions of the individuals.
• They may assist in planning menus that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of patients. This involves considering factors such as age, medical conditions, cultural preferences, and food allergies.
• Dietary aides help ensure that patients with special dietary requirements
• Ability to follow recipes and guidelines for meal preparation.
• Careful attention to dietary restrictions, portion sizes, and special dietary requirements.
• Ability to ensure that meals are prepared and served accurately.
• Efficiently manage tasks within the meal preparation and serving schedule.
• Compassionate attitude towards patients and residents, considering their unique needs and preferences.
• Adherence to cleanliness and hygiene standards in food preparation and serving areas.
• Collaboration with other healthcare staff, including registered dietitians, nurses, and kitchen staff, to ensure patients' dietary needs are met.
• Awareness of cultural and religious dietary preferences and the ability to accommodate them.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some facilities may require completion of a formal dietary aide training program.
• Certification in food safety and sanitation practices is often preferred.
• Basic understanding of nutrition principles and dietary requirements.
• Familiarity with various diets and dietary restrictions (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, low-fat).
• Effective communication skills to interact with patients, residents, and healthcare professionals.
• Ability to listen and understand individual dietary needs and preferences.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques and basic cooking skills.
