ZACS is Hiring a Mechanical Des Engineer III (Seating ENG) Near Greensboro, NC

Job Summary:

Development of engineering design data within budget in accordance with FAA, customer and ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions standards of quality, while providing technical guidance to design staff.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Provide technical support and guidance to engineering personnel of various disciplines for engineering programs in which ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions is involved. Assist and guide Engineers in accomplishing designs.
  2. Develop well defined ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions statements of work from limited customer provided specification information and knowledge of Airframe and Regulatory requirements.
  3. Complete feasibility studies to assist with the development of ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions proposals and statements of work from limited specification information.
  4. Develop and produce design data required for the proper manufacture, assembly and installation of aircraft modifications and components.
  5. Develop preliminary engineering analysis necessary to substantiate aircraft modifications.
  6. Review the design data produced by less experienced Design Engineers.
  7. Assist with development of less experienced Design Engineers by acting as a mentor/resource.
  8. Coordinate with Certification to ensure design data aligns with the timing and content needs for substantiation of the seating design.
  9. Interface with other ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions departments to ensure customer & ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions requirements are met.
  10. Interface with the Certification and Structures group to ensure that all designs meet the established Airframe, FAA, EASA and local regulatory authority criteria.
  11. Convert limited specification information into engineering design data for use in part manufacturing and installation.
  12. Support various design review meetings with customers.
  13. Provide technical support to ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions Manufacturing during the manufacturing and assembly phases of HAECO developed designs.
  14. Provide support and supervision during installation of modifications at remote locations.
  15. Develop expertise with aircraft seat design concepts and industry design and test standards, CFRs and Airframe requirements.
  16. Support other Engineering groups as workload requirements dictate.
  17. Become familiar with and adhere to ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions internal policies and procedures. Provide input and suggestions for continuous improvement of various department procedures, controls, flows and systems.
  18. Support, in a professional manner, customers, major manufacturers, vendors, FAA, or other outside agencies to promote and support ZIM technical & commercial interests.
  19. Must be able to work autonomously on complex design tasks.

Secondary Duties:

Job Qualifications:

Minimum

  1. BS Degree in Engineering or related scientific field, or equivalent combination of experience and coursework.
  2. Five (5) years industry experience in engineering field, preferably dealing in the design of passenger aircraft seating.
  3. Minimum three (3) years’ experience utilizing Solidworks (or comparable CAD program) with demonstrable proficiency.
  4. Must possess some knowledge of FAA regulations, certification processes and related requirements.
  5. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of standard aircraft components, materials, fabrication practices, aviation hardware and proper application in design.
  6. Must possess knowledge of engineering principles used in stress analysis, finite element modeling (FEM), 3D-computer modeling, and other analytical substantiation techniques.
  7. Must possess extensive knowledge of personal computer systems with Microsoft Office.
  8. Must have extensive knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, layouts of passenger accommodations, Component Maintenance Manuals and Service Bulletins.
  9. Must possess good oral and written communication skills, along with good organizational skills, and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Preferred

Ten (10) years industry experience in engineering field, preferably dealing in the design of passenger aircraft seating. Or Master’s Degree in Engineering with eight (8) years industry experience in engineering field, preferably dealing in the design of passenger aircraft seating.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to work in ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions and Supplier production facilities.

2.Must also be able to lift and carry 15 lbs.

3.Must be able to sit and work effectively at a computer for extended periods of time.

4.Visual acuity must be minimum of 20/40 corrected.

5.Position may require domestic and international travel.

6.Must be able to work assigned schedule with minimal absences.
