The Director of Line Haul Operations holds a pivotal senior leadership role within YZER, overseeing the strategic planning, coordination, and supervision of all Line Haul Operations activities. Based in Tampa, FL, this position requires visionary leadership to ensure operational excellence, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance across the organization's line haul fleet. With up to 30% travel expected, the Director of Line Haul Operations must possess exceptional management prowess and a commitment to excellence.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to optimize line haul fleet performance, aligning with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Provide visionary leadership to inspire and empower the line haul operations team towards achieving excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Direct the acquisition, maintenance, utilization, and disposal of all line haul fleet assets, ensuring seamless operations and maximum efficiency.
  • Implement robust systems for monitoring key performance indicators, analyzing data, and making data-driven decisions to drive operational excellence.
  • Spearhead budgetary planning and control initiatives, optimizing resource allocation and driving cost efficiencies without compromising quality or safety.
  • Negotiate contracts and partnerships with suppliers and service providers to secure favorable terms and drive value for the organization.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to line haul operations for all states we operate, ensuring strict adherence to safety and environmental standards.
  • Champion a culture of compliance within the line haul operations team, implementing rigorous protocols to mitigate risks and uphold legal obligations.
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of line haul managers, drivers, and administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Provide strategic guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities to nurture talent and drive individual and team growth.
  • Drive innovation initiatives and leverage cutting-edge technologies to enhance line haul operations processes, optimize resource utilization, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced fleet management software and telematics systems to streamline operations and enhance decision-making capabilities.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven track record of senior leadership and strategic management in the field of line haul operations, with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience.
  • Ability to analyze data and report on key performance metrics.
  • Exceptional leadership acumen, with a demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and lead cross-functional teams towards achieving ambitious objectives.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgetary planning, financial analysis, and contract negotiation.
  • In-depth knowledge of line haul operations best practices, regulations, and emerging trends.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical mindset, with proficiency in data analysis and strategic decision-making.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in line haul operations or a related field
  • Extensive experience in managing and leading large teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Active Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record
  • Strong network and relationships within the transportation and logistics industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of executive leadership in line haul operations
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and implement technology solutions to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Advanced certifications or training in leadership, management, or related fields
  • Master’s degree in business administration or a related field

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct and lead a team of seasoned professionals, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and support to foster a culture of excellence and drive organizational success.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Hold a valid driver's license, preferably a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), if required for the position.
  • Compliance with any specific industry regulations or certifications relevant to the role.
  • Willingness to adhere to company policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
  • Ability to meet any physical or health requirements essential for the position.
  • Willingness to undergo any additional training or certifications as required by the company.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment is primarily an office setting, with the flexibility for remote work when necessary.
  • Exposure to fluorescent lighting in an office environment.
  • Exposure to warehouse environments that may include loud noises, unlit areas, unheated or not air-conditioned units.
  • Exposure to working around heavy machinery such as vehicles, pallet jacks and/or forklifts.
  • Exposure to outdoor elements such as wind, rain, heat, cold, humidity, and other weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform demonstrations and participate in hands-on activities as needed
  • Ability for continual standing and/or walking.
  • Ability to travel by car and/or plane.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • This role may also require uniforms and/or appropriate PPE.

Travel:

Up to 30% travel required.
