Name of Contractor Role: Global Education Ambassador

Hours/Schedule: 1.5-4 hours per day, up to 20 hours per week. Possible hours would fall within these time frames: Monday-Friday, between 2:30-6pm (school year) or Monday- Friday, between 8am-6pm (summer)

Length of Contract: up to 5 months (remainder of 2023-24 school year and summer), with possible extension into next school year.

Hourly Compensation: $20-$23 per hour

Location: Various locations in Greater Miami area, such as Hialeah, South Miami, Miami Gardens and Miami Dade county.

Required Important Details:

  • Clearance of Criminal Background and Drug Test is required.
  • Local travel as required – must have the means to arrive at multiple locations on their

own behalf.

Summary: Responsible for delivering YWCA’s Global Education curriculum and leading groups of children and youth in hands-on activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Teach the weekly lesson plans prepared by the Global Education Specialist.
  • Deliver Global Education Afterschool weekly activities, such as reading, hands-on experiences, and STEAM activities, with assistance from afterschool program staff.
  • Deliver Teens Take Action initiative activities, such as reading, and hands-on experiences

based on project-based approach activities with assistance from Global Education staff.

  • Attend weekly curriculum meetings with the Global Education Specialist.
  • Responsible for making sure supplies and curriculum are ready for each session.
  • Maintain a high-quality standard of teaching, and fosters an environment conducive to

effective learning and engagement.

  • Develop relationships and work effectively with Global Education program staff, site managers, and counselors in identified public schools and partner sites.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and respect when interacting with children, parents, and YWCA staff.
  • Maintain open and regular communication with YWCA and Global Education staff members, and provides updates on class progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, including student records and any

proprietary materials belonging to YWCA.

  • Assist with plans, including parent events and on-site cultural exposure experiences in

coordination with the Global Education program.

  • Assist in conducting pre and post-assessments to evaluate children grades K-5 for literacy skills (ORF and MAZE), as needed. Training will be provided.

Requirements:

  • Strong verbal English skills. Friendly and outgoing.
  • Willing to work off-site at local schools and centers.
  • A strong desire to perform community service and help children is very important.
  • Understanding of social-emotional learning, racial equity, diversity and inclusion, civic

engagement and advocacy, and local resources.

  • Experience working with children and youth ages 5-18 is helpful but not required.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent coursework required; Bachelor’s degree in

Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, English, or related field preferred.

  • Currently enrolled upper-level college students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (BA

or BS) from an accredited college/university are encouraged to apply.

  • Experience working with children and youth ages 5-18 and middle schoolers is helpful but not required.
  • Equivalent experience or coursework in relevant fields will also be considered.
