YWCA Northern New Jersey is Hiring a Parttime Creative Expressions Clinician Near Hackensack, NJ

SUMMARY

The Creative Expressions Clinician is responsible for providing outpatient mental health services to survivors ofsexual violence and their non-offending family members. This Creative Expressions Clinician is responsible for engaging clients utilizing creative modalities which could include but not limited to creative arts, creative writing, narrative therapy, yoga, music, psychodrama, dance and movement, poetry, drama therapy, play therapy. TheCreative Expressions Clinician will provide services including crisis-intervention and trauma-focused psychotherapy in individual, family, and group modalities. The Creative Expressions Clinician will be responsible for creating engaging workshops, group therapy series, and monthly coffee houses. Services will be provided in-person and viatelehealth. This position will work in collaboration with the Counseling Department and healingSPACE staff to support coordination of holistic services.

This position is part time, 15 hours weekly with a hybrid model

Key Responsibilities

· Provide outpatient counseling services to adult and adolescent survivors of sexual violence, utilizing creative

and expressive treatment approaches to support survivors in the healing process.

· Provide for and facilitate creative expressions group therapy series, workshops, and monthly coffee house.

· Provide culturally sensitive outpatient counseling services to non-offending family members in an effort to

assist in addressing the impact of the trauma on the family unit, including psycho-education and emotional

support services to the family unit.

· Be responsible for completing accurate and timely records including assessments, treatment plans, treatment

notes, reports, and case closings.

· Provide information, verbal and written, to survivors of sexual violence regarding reporting, prosecution,

rights and compensation for themselves and their families.

· Serve as an advocate to survivors of sexual violence and their families, as clinically indicated

· Compile and maintain statistics of clinical services provided that are required for programmatic reporting

required by funding sources.

· Participate in full and clinical staff meetings, trainings, and staff retreats and awareness events as needed.

· Function in accordance with agency standards, policies and procedures.

· Participate in all Sexual Assault Center Services as assigned (e.g. Sexual Assault Awareness Month,

Community Awareness Activities, Volunteer Training, etc.)

· Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor and Director

Qualifications

· Must be NJ licensed LSW, LAC, LCSW, or LPC possessing a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling or

if possessing a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy discipline must have a NJ Professional Art Therapist license

· 40 hours of sexual violence training preferred or should be completed within 90 days of hire.

· Minimum of 1 year trauma specific experience working with survivors of sexual violence or working victim

advocacy and victim advocacy services is strongly preferred.

· Must have experience providing creative therapeutic approaches

· Required to have at minimum 1 evening (after 5pm) and a minimum of 1 day in office.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Thorough clinical assessment and individual and group therapy training and graduate-level coursework.

· Knowledge of modalities and best practices in provision of counseling to survivors of sexual violence as

well as understanding of trauma and PTSD.

· Knowledge of creative therapeutic modalities

· Demonstration of cultural awareness, sensitivity and commitment to social justice.

· Strong public speaking skills.

· Ability to manage a caseload of clients, facilitation of group, multitask and prioritize workload.

· The selected candidate must:

o Be able to clear a background check.

o Have the ability to work effectively with and gain the respect of multiple constituencies, including senior executives and decision-makers, individual and institutional partners at all levels, and staff and team members across departments.

Other requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel throughout the service area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/MOTOR COORDINATION
Must be able to write, type, use telephone and computer systems, and other office equipment. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard, telephone or workstation; walking for up to 3 hours (e.g., canvassing, parades); periods of time outdoors in variety of weather (e.g., canvassing, parades, tabling, etc.); and lifting and transporting tables and boxes of materials for outreach work.
