General Description
The Event Coordinator & Development Associate provides administrative support for development, special events, and communications in St Joseph and Elkhart County.
Reporting Relationship
The Event Coordinator & Development Associate is directly supervised by the VP of Development.
Supervises
The Event Coordinator & Development Associate may supervise volunteers/clients from time to time.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Develops written procedure for maintenance of donor database files and records used to track contributions and maintain accurate mailing lists and manages database.
Responsible for e-fundraising and social media communications.
Prepares donor correspondence.
Prepares and executes annual appeals.
Assists with stewardship activities including donor recognition and appreciation.
Supervises and coordinates the work of volunteers in day-to-day functional development and special event activities, as appropriate.
Assists in design and production of promotional materials including brochures, newsletters, and flyers.
Prepares bulk mailings.
Plans and executes effective special events, which generate significant revenue for special events.
Assists in creation of event materials and invitation mailings.
Recruits, screens, trains, schedules and evaluates volunteers.
Provides coverage for booths and fairs in community either in person, or with volunteers.
Assists with special projects and staffing of special events.
Assists as needed in maintenance of website and social media pages.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree. 5 years’ experience in development related field including marketing and communications. Relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge and Ability
Self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate fundraising activities and special events. Database management skills with Raiser’s Edge preferred. Creative and able to work independently with limited supervision. Knowledge of Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites required. Microsoft Excel, Word, and Publisher preferred. Adobe Photoshop preferred. Experience shooting and cutting video a plus.
