Job Description:
The Donor Relations Officer, in coordination with the Vice President of Development and Communications, leads all development activities to raise funds to support the agency's programs.
The position develops, implements, and monitors a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support of the organization - including identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders, actively pursuing and managing corporate and individual leads, and fostering strong donor relations.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Assists in short and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and meet revenue budget projections
  • Identifies and cultivates donor prospects, including individuals, corporations, and local foundations.
  • In coordination with the YWCA Development team, assists with donor solicitations.
  • Stewards and oversees relationships for new donors in Elkhart County.
  • Assists in planning and executing fundraising events
  • Develops and enhances working relationships with various organizations, non-profit groups, service clubs, and businesses.
  • Identifies potential private grant prospects and assists Vice President of Development & Communications in writing proposals
  • Recruits and steward new donors

Reporting Relationship
The Director of Development - Elkhart County reports to the Vice President of Development & Communications. No supervisory responsibilities.
Experience and Skills:

  • A mature and disciplined self-starter able to set objectives and formulate plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage donors and funders and build long- term relationships
  • Proven success in soliciting and closing gifts
  • Demonstrated ability to work with top-level business, civic, and community leaders and represent the YWCA in meetings and other public forums
  • A motivated team player who can engage and inspire fellow executives and volunteer leaders on the board and within the organization
  • Outstanding written and personal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of fundraising experience.
