The Staff Clinician is responsible for providing empowerment based, trauma informed counseling to individuals seeking mental health treatment related to the effects of coercive control, and interpersonal and domestic violence. This program consistently utilizes a person-centered approach that focuses on the participants’ strengths and takes into consideration the impact of discrimination and oppression at the individual and institutional level. This position must embody the values and mission of the YWCA to empower women and eliminate racism. They will receive weekly 1:1 clinical supervision, bi-weekly group supervision, and quarterly staff meetings with other departments. Flexibility to work one evening per week may be required to provide group therapy as needed.
The Staff Clinician will:
• Provide outpatient mental/behavioral health clinical therapy to Clinical Services program participants.
• Conduct therapy, consultation, assessment, and evaluation.
• Serve as a member of the Clinical Services Department and work collaboratively with other departments within the YWCA Central Massachusetts to provide comprehensive treatment and timely referrals to participants requesting services.
• Maintain necessary paperwork and documentation as required by the clinical services department, funders, and the board of social work.
• Provide consultation internally to staff and other YWCA Central Massachusetts departments regarding mental/behavioral health issues as related to gender based interpersonal and domestic violence.
• Provide participant advocacy, outreach, and education in the community in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services as appropriate.
• Adhere to all department and agency protocols regarding participant/member safety and security, boundaries, and confidentiality.
• Embodies and exemplifies YWCA Central Massachusetts mission and values of eliminating racism and empowering women.
• Respects and honors each participant right to self-determination and human dignity by utilizing a strengths-based, trauma informed, social justice orientated approach.
• Perform other duties and work on specialized projects as assigned by the supervisor. This includes attendance at department, organization, and external/community meetings and/or trainings.
