Overview:

Salary: $100,000 - $170,000 per year eligible for bonus program

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer to join our team in the role of Warehouse Optimization and Automation Engineer. This position is integral to our company's commitment to enhancing operational efficiency through strategic warehouse layout optimization and the implementation of cutting-edge automation solutions across our 30 diverse locations nationwide. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in warehouse engineering, project management, and a proven track record of successfully delivering warehouse automation projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Automation Project Management:
    • Lead end-to-end project management for warehouse automation initiatives including, but not limited to, collaborative robotics, goods-to-person automation, automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyor systems, innovative order picking systems, and other cutting-edge technologies.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
    • Develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Technology Integration:
    • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and automation solutions suitable for warehouse operations.
    • Integrate the ROI analysis seamlessly into the decision-making process, ensuring that selected solutions align with our commitment to strategic optimization and cutting-edge automation.
    • Collaborate with vendors to select, implement, and integrate technology solutions into the existing warehouse infrastructure.
    • Ensure seamless connectivity and interoperability of automation systems.
  • Warehouse Layout Optimization:
    • Conduct thorough analysis of existing warehouse layouts and processes.
    • Develop and implement innovative strategies for warehouse space optimization including, but not limited to, permanent and mobile racking, vertical and horizontal storage solutions, and optimized dock layouts to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and increase revenue.
    • Utilize advanced modeling and simulation tools to assess and validate proposed layout changes.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Continuously assess and optimize warehouse processes to improve overall workflow efficiency.
    • Implement lean principles and best practices to streamline operations.
    • Collaborate with operational teams to gather feedback and make data-driven improvements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with operations and support teams to understand their requirements and incorporate them into warehouse design and automation projects.
    • Collaborate with Operations and Support teams to review equipment usage and equipment needs to ensure the right equipment is present in the right quantities to achieve the operational goals while controlling expenses.
    • Foster a collaborative environment to ensure alignment between engineering and operational goals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, warehousing, or any related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in warehouse layout optimization and automation project management from inception through completion
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools.
  • Working knowledge of material handling equipment.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
  • Lean, Six-Sigma, and Kaizen experience is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting project updates to stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in warehouse optimization and automation.
  • An ability to navigate local and national regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to travel as needed for on-site assessments and project implementations.
