This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time offer.
NATURE OF WORK
Under limited supervision performs professional public health services of considerable difficulty in planning, organizing, and implementing public health programs; performs related work as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Cardio?Vascular Disease Program Coordinator ? Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Education or a health related field, and two (2) years’ experience in a public health setting; a Master's Degree may substitute for one (1) year of health experience.
Communicable Disease Program Coordinator ? Bachelor of Science Degree in a Health Field, i.e., Nursing, Bacteriology, Health Education, Epidemiology; and two (2) years’ experience in health, some of which includes control of communicable disease; a Master's Degree may substitute for one (1) year of health experience.
Communicable Health Nursing Coordinator ? Newborn Intensive Care and Children with Special Care Needs ? Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing and two (2) years in Public Health Nursing experience some of which is with children and infants; a Master's of Science Degree in Nursing may substitute for one (1) year of experience; must possess a current State of Arizona License as a Registered Nurse.
Health Start Program Coordinator ? Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Education or a health related field, and two (2) years’ experience in a public health setting; a Master's Degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
HIV Coordinator ? Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Education or a health related field, and two (2) years’ experience in a public health setting; a Master's Degree may be substituted for one (1) year of health experience.
Immunization - Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or any combination of education training or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position; must possess a current State of Arizona License as a Registered Nurse and a valid Arizona Driver’s License (11/27/02 vb).
Injury Prevention Coordinator ? Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Education or a related field, and two years’ experience in a public health setting; a Master's Degree may be substituted for up to one (1) year of health experience.
Nutrition Program Coordinator ? Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition with emphasis on Community Health and two (2) years of experience in Community Nutrition; a Master's Degree in Nutrition or Public Health may be substituted for up to one (1) year of experience. Special Qualifications: A Registered Dietician is preferred. THIS IS AN EXEMPT CLASSIFICATION, PER CHERLENE ON 4/13/00.
Teen Maternity Program Coordinator ? Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and two (2) years of experience in Public Health Nursing; a Master's Degree in Nursing may substitute for one (1) year of nursing experience.
Tobacco Use Prevention Program Coordinator ? Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Education or a health related field, and two (2) years’ experience in a public health setting; a Master's Degree may substitute for up to one (1) year of health experience.
Tuberculosis Control Program Coordinator ? Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and two (2) years’ experience in Public Health Nursing; some of which includes the control of communicable disease; a Master's Degree in Nursing may substitute for up to one (1) year of nursing experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license; requires successful completion of a background check.
Hourly rate for this position has been revised effective 3/4/24.Knowledge of: Public health principles and practices; health sciences including health maintenance, promotion and prevention; principles of health education and counseling; principles of epidemiology; community assessment and resources; individual/community health assessment; planning; implementing and evaluating interventions and coordinating services.
Skill in: Speaking to clients of varying backgrounds; communicating complex ideas in clear, understandable terms; public speaking; using computers and software; communicating both verbally and in writing.
Ability to: Supervise and coordinate service for a group of clients or target population in a public health program; use initiative and judgment in a program management; abbreviate impact of interventions on health status of client/community; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employee, other agencies, and the public; follow written and verbal instructions; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing; working at a computer monitor for extended periods required; the job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
