Position Summary:

Registered Dietitian ComPASS is responsible for coordinating activities associated with the NIH funded ComPASS project to implement and evaluate structural interventions associated with nutrition and food security in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. Activities include coordinating a health equity research assembly, facilitating multisectoral partnerships, completing proposed structural intervention related project, submitting project proposals through IRB and YKHC human subjects for approval, evaluating program interventions and activities, and reporting out to NIH and internal and external other program partners.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Completion of a bachelor's degree through an accredited university using course work approved by an accreditation council through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience: New graduates (with relevant license-see below) accepted. Two (2) years experience in a clinical health setting preferred. Demonstrated experience collaborating with a variety of disciplines for project completion. Background in Diabetes Education and supplemental nutrition support programs preferred.

License, Certification, Registration: Valid Alaska RDN license required. Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Equipment/Tools: Work in a typical office, hospital, and village clinic setting. Comprehensive knowledge of PC computers. Ability to operate diabetes care medical equipment such as glucometer, ht./weight scale, etc. Requires travel to villages via small plane/sub-arctic conditions, moderate lifting of equipment, occasional long working hours.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge base in the field of diabetes, cardiovasular disease and public helath. Cross cultural communication skills essential. Bi-lingual (Yupik/English) preferred.
