Position Summary
The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist pharmacists in the preparation and administration of pharmaceuticals to patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :

Customer Service
o Provides patients with information concerning prescriptions, pharmacy policies, and insurance as requested. Facilitates phone calls from patients, family members, other pharmacies, and other members of the health care team as appropriate.
o Process cash and credit card transactions
o Participate in interdisciplinary rounds
o Perform medication history interviews, first dose teaching, food-drug interaction counseling, discharge counseling, assessment of education and adherence
o Counsel patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications and devices
o Monitor medication therapies through performing profile reviews, interpreting laboratory values, and ensuring drug regimens are consistent with medication use guidelines and protocols
o Assess patient’s progression towards achieving desired medication treatment goals
o Review medication orders for appropriate dose, duration, frequency, dosage form, indication and drug interactions
o Perform pharmacokinetic monitoring
o Retrieve, evaluate and provide drug information to health care providers, answering general and patient specific drug information questions
o Review documented adverse drug reactions / allergies and report new occurrences as needed
o Apply federal and state legal standards surrounding medication use

Supervisory Relationship
Works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and reports to the Pharmacy Director. Performance is assessed through review of work, integration, and cooperation within the department.
Days / / Hours per Week
This is a temporary, full-time position. Hours scheduled will vary with the need of the department, 40 hours a week.
