About YFT:

Youth For Tomorrow is a 501 (c) (3) and a faith based, non-profit organization, founded in 1986 by Hall of Fame Football Coach Joe Gibbs. The organization is large, diverse, experienced and committed to serving the “least, the lost and the lonely” amongst us. YFT began as a residential home for at-risk boys, grew to serve girls, then reached out with community-based programs in 2012. We have offices in Loudoun, Fauquier, Fairfax and three offices in Prince William County. YFT holds one of the highest level of accreditation among behavioral health care clinical programs, being awarded national accreditation from The Joint Commission.

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee physical care of YFT residents.
  2. Development of acceptable habits and attitudes for YFT residents.
  3. Management of resident behavior.
  4. Assist in meeting the goals and objectives of any required service plan.
  5. Responsible for guidance and supervision of the residents/children to whom assigned.
  6. Responsible for the coordinated supervision of the residents to include but not limited to continued awareness and ability to give an account of each resident location upon request.
  7. Confirm census count received from prior on-duty staff prior to assuming floor responsibilities. Census count must agree prior to shift departure.
  8. Maintain shift coverage until the next shift is securely in position. If House Parents/Coordinators are not on duty, a full report is to be given to incoming staff which may take up to 15 minutes plus past then end of the shift time.
  9. Confirm status and location of assigned residents every 15 minutes and if assigned to work overnight shift, every 30 minutes.
  10. Maintain structure and regulations at all times; 24/7.
  11. Completely and accurately document any required forms, particularly the daily log. This is to be completed prior to the ending shift.
  12. Perform waive testing on residents after home visits, AWOL, and as needed with complete accuracy and compliance.
  13. Attend all training mandated by YFT and continuously pursue training opportunities to meet standards set forth.
  14. All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151-720).
  15. Other duties as assigned by the CEO, Director Program Services, Director Residential, or Supervisor

Required Trainings: First Aid/ CPR; Handle With Care: Standard Precautions; Emergency Preparedness; Shaken Baby; Mandatory Reporting; and 25 hours of job specific related training.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Individuals hired on or before September 29, 2014 (grandfathered):

  • Associates degree and three months experience working with children; OR
  • High School graduate or have a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D) and six months experience working with children.

Individuals hired on or after September 30, 2014:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services is required OR actively, continuously pursuing the degree and able to provide evidence of such; OR
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.) and six months experience working with children AND
  • Enroll and successfully complete assigned training and Certification Program for development in our milieu of care.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of YFT mission and values;
  • Possess the characteristics and experience to collaborate with and provide appropriate care to residents, gain their respect, guide their development, and participate in their overall treatment program;
  • Ability to support constructive resident-family visitation and resident involvement in community activities;
  • Ability to provide services in a culturally and linguistically competent manner;
  • Possess the temperament to work with and care for children, and youth, some with special needs in multiple age ranges;
  • Ability to accurately collect, review, and analyze waive testing of residents after home visits, AWOL, and as needed
  • Ability to work effectively with the treatment team and other internal and external stakeholders;
  • Adequate and continuous ongoing training and supervision
  • Age 21 or above as per state regulations and standards.
  • Ability to maintain a stable environment.
  • Ability to maintain safety, security, and structure at all times.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of the program structure in the absence of House Parent/House Coordinator leadership.
  • Ability to attend, understand, pass, and demonstrate medication management protocols

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license which meets or exceeds YFT’s insurance guidelines.
