Youth for Christ Tacoma Area, Inc. is Hiring a Development Officer Near Tacoma, WA

Position Summary

The Development Officer works under the supervision of the Executive Director and alongside the Development Director to provide leadership and relational connection to Tacoma YFC giving partners, communicating a compelling vision and providing opportunities for increased partnership. As part of the Development team this position is responsible for identification, cultivation, and invitation along with coordinating activities with other staff, board members, and volunteers. This person helps build the culture of biblical stewardship.

Essential Functions

Fund development

  • Work in cooperation with the Executive Director and Development/Support teams to carry out the overall fund development strategy, implementing this strategy by working with all Tacoma YFC staff.
  • Actively manage portfolio of individual Major/Lead/Key partners regular cultivation meetings, in person invitations, and stewardship activities
  • Proactively reach out to prospective leads through See the Story, Be the Story, Comedy Cafe, Auction as well as personal and community contacts
  • Manage staff relationships with Key and Lead giving partners.
  • Track and report relationship management activity using giving partner management software (Sales Force)
  • Work with the Ministry Directors to ensure Development practices are being maintained, adjusted as needed, tools, resources and training are provided, and accountability is in place to all staff.
  • Lead the charge in meeting the development goals in the strategic plan.

YFC Team Responsibilities

1. —each YFC staff should be ready and willing to share the mission of YFC and stories of young people making steps towards Jesus in a clear and compelling presentation. YFC staff will be given opportunities to share their stories in different venues such as the Auction, See the Story events, and smaller gatherings.

2.—YFC staff will equip volunteers to raise up young people who can clearly articulate their journey with Jesus to both fellow peers and adults.

3.—YFC staff will invite friends and family to events where the mission of YFC as well as volunteer, prayer, and financial partnership opportunities are presented.

Together, with the entire Tacoma YFC team we work towards a common goal of asking the Father to provide the financial resources necessary to reach more 11-19 year olds across Pierce County with the life transforming hope found in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the one who moves in peoples’ hearts to invest financially.

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

As an employee of Youth for Christ and a minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events

YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of Youth for Christ/Tacoma Area, Inc.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A passion and drive for fundraising, sales, customer service, or customer experience is a must
  • Some event planning and management experience. Must be open to meeting new people and provide a positive interaction for them

TRAINING PROVIDED: This role requires training in the See The Story/Be The Story /YFC Champions Playbook pending Best Practice. This on-demand virtual training is provided by the Leader Formation Department and will include resources to help fulfill the responsibilities of this role.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
