Youth Care currently has a great opportunity for a Maintenance/Facility Assistant that will provide support to the Facility Manager. This individual will work to complete maintenance tasks and upkeep concerns of the homes and campus. Experience with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanics is preferred. This is a FT position/30-40 hours per week.
Essential Functions:
1. Assigned tasks to complete maintenance, safety, and upkeep concerns of 5 buildings and campus grounds while working with and around students during these work projects.
2. Works with the Facility Manager to ensure safe and reliable condition of all company vehicles.
3. Assists Facility Manager in routine and scheduled maintenance of a variety of systems including water, utilities, gas, telephone/voice mail, alarm/security, and sewer ensuring optimum performance.
4. Assists Facility Manager in development of safety policies and takes immediate corrective action to eliminate hazardous conditions and practices.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
1. Must be able to perform essential functions on the job description, with or without reasonable accommodation
2. Must be able to stand and walk intermittent 8 hours per day.
3. Maintains regular and predictable attendance
4. Ability to reach above shoulder often, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 100 lbs
5. Ability to reach and bend freely
6. Ability to climb ladders, work on roofs, work in confined spaces, and work around hazardous materials, possibly including chemical and flammable materials.
5. Conducts self in professional manner when interacting with internal contacts (staff, students) and external contacts (vendors, state and regulatory agencies, parents, other programs)
6. Performs weekly walk through of campus and determines work needed and then reports to Facility Manager.
7. Completes all weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual testing and monitoring of facility systems and plans as required by State Licensing and Joint Commission standards and regulations.
