Job Description

TITLE: CHILD CARE SPECIALIST Coach

STATUS: Full-time, Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. At least three years of experience in the child care field. Bachelor’s Degree in Early childhood

Education preferred. Trained in CLASS a plus.

DEFINITION: The Child Care Specialist Coach will support best practices in child care programs by training, coaching, and providing resources to home based teachers.
Focus areas will include child development, developmentally appropriate practice, early learning environments, and teacher/child interactions. The specialist will utilize the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tool and other approved curriculum and assessments to help programs set goals for quality improvement. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend training in CLASS and Project Based Coaching.
  • Build relationships with early care and education providers in the community to help determine needs and recruit for services.
  • Conduct CLASS observations in child care homes.
  • Assess trends in providers needs utilizing CLASS scores.
  • Provide on-site coaching to early education providers in child care homes to support their implementation of developmentally appropriate practice.
  • Provide monthly training to child care teacher in a defined cohort.
  • Support administrators of child care programs with overall management and oversight strategies.
  • Utilize strength-based coaching techniques to help early education professionals meet their improvement goals.
  • Be available during some nights and weekends to provide professional development.
  • Document the support provided to assigned early learning programs and track successes and challenges of programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete reports as assigned.
  • Collect evaluation data as required.
  • Attend Youth Alliance meetings, as assigned.
  • Build relationships with staff to become productive team members.
  • Work in conjunction with the Early Childhood Team to promote all activities, resources, and agency information.
  • Work to communicate effectively with management, peers, and providers using email, team meetings and other communication methods.
  • Complete all required documentation and data tracking in a detailed and timely manner.
  • Provide program outreach as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to provide positive, outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to interact positively with a variety of personalities and socio-economic populations.
  • Problem-solving skills, organizational skills, time management skills, and excellent oral and written communications skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications are required including Microsoft

Office Suite, email and internet applications.

  • Ability to be flexible to adapt to different situations and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to support, coach and motivate individuals to reach their goals.
  • Ability to listen and demonstrate empathy and non-judgmental behavior.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel is required. Individual must possess a valid driver’s license with chauffeur’s classification and access to a reliable, insured motor vehicle.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Individual must pass a background check prior to an offer of employment.
