Youngker High School is Hiring a MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - YOUNGKER HIGH SCHOOL (#4067) Near Buckeye, AZ

This position is for 40 Hours a week. Monday - Friday 6a.m. - 2:30p.m.

TITLE: Maintenance Technician

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 1.0 FTE; 12-Month position

SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Classified

GENERAL STATEMENT of RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining the facilities and ensure a safe, attractive, comfortable environment for students.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • May be required to alter working hours to perform regularly assigned duties
  • Assist the Plant Foreman with enforcing all state and system regulations related to plant facilities.
  • Repair and maintain all building systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance programs in accordance with SFB.
  • Set-up school events as needed.
  • Must use own initiative and judgment in performing job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION:

High risk - Work is routinely performed in outdoor environments, including exposure to noise levels varying from low to mid based on the type of tools or equipment being used on at any given time, and being on your feet for extended periods of time. Daily exposure to hazardous materials such as blood born pathogens, high voltage, gases, or heights. At time extreme heat and cold weather will be encountered.

The applicant for this position is required to:

  • Sit approximately 0% of the time
  • Walk and Stand approximately 90% of the time
  • Kneeling/Stooping approximately 10% of the time
  • Lift on a regular basis 30-50lbs
  • Reaching with Hand and Arms on a regular basis
  • Ability to wear respirator as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer two years of related experience
  • Post-high school education and/or training.
  • Completion of technical training program or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must possess ability to work with and communicate with students, staff, and parents.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Providing customer service.
  • Following directions and meeting standards.
  • Providing attention to detail in assignments.
  • Comprehending reference books and manuals.
  • Organizing and maintaining supplies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
  • Ability to make recommendation for major repairs or revamping of equipment; meet emergencies and analyze situations; do short- and long-range planning and budgeting; plan and lay out routine preventative maintenance schedules.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in handling toxic and hazardous chemicals.
  • Proficiency in interpreting federal, state, local mandated programs, building codes and environmental rules and regulations.
  • General maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating and cooling equipment, maintenance materials and their proper application; types and kinds of equipment and material used in maintenance repairs.
  • Safety guidelines, mechanics, and equipment operation and repair.
  • Experience with safety codes in plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC.
  • Current federal and state mandated programs including asbestos, master meter gas systems, and fire systems.
  • Computer and EMS systems.
  • Volt/Amp meter, all skilled hand tools, and CFC equipment.
  • Toxic and Hazardous chemicals.

Time Management: Must plan three to six months in advance.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

The evaluation is done by the Director of Facilities, Transportation & Energy.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Director of Facilities, Transportation & Energy.
