Objective of Position

Under general supervision, perform a variety of semiskilled tasks related to the care and maintenance of buildings, equipment and grounds and perform other related work as required. This position reports to the Field Facilities’ Administrator.

Statement of Duties

• Routine cleaning of building, including but not limited to dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing and trash removal.
• Sweeping or hosing outside grounds: mowing, raking, weeding, shearing, edging and hand pruning
• Makes minor plumbing, electrical and other building repairs.
• Checking and maintenance of parking and play area.
• Operates maintenance equipment for stripping and waxing floors and shampooing carpets.
• Replaces florescent tubes, fuses and air conditioning filters; servicing of towel boxes, soap dispensers and similar equipment.
• Periodic cleaning of windows, blinds and walls.
• Repairs plaster and handles, routine painting and touch up.
• Prepares rooms for meetings or activities.
• Report any issues concerning the facility, grounds, equipment, etc. to the Field Facilities’ Administrator.
• Sweeping or hosing outside grounds; checking and maintenance of parking and play area.
• Report any potential problems to supervisor.
• May perform errands and deliveries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Walnut Park, CA 90255

Salary: $18.42/hr.

• Must have a minimum of two years experience performing custodial tasks and general repairs in a commercial building.
• Must have knowledge of commercial cleaning supplies and operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
• Must be in good physical condition in order to stoop, bend, walk long distances and lift moderate (and occasionally heavy) loads.
• Must be competent in the proper use of hand tools, blowers, edgers and other powered equipment as required.
• Must be able to communicate in English, written and verbal.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license and insurance.

Specialized Qualifications

• Experience in working with diverse cultures.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to address problems and follow up through completion.

Constraints

This may be a full-time or part-time, non-exempt position, depending on the need of the location. Full-time positions are required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, which may include some weekends and evening work.
