JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Child Development and in accordance with the general policies, goals and standards established by the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, the Floater is responsible for assisting the lead teacher in carrying out lesson plans and providing a nurturing, well supervised and safe environment for preschool children.

The effectiveness of this notice can be evidenced by:

• An orderly classroom in which children are happy and productive
• Parental satisfaction as evidenced in comments to both Teacher and Director
• Quality childcare for all YMCA preschool students

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful, you must meet education, training and experience requirements and you must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills and physical abilities. The Floater must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and goals of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County and must demonstrate an ability to work effectively with people as a team player. The Floater must have attained at minimum a high school diploma. The mandatory 40-hour DCF course is required to be completed within three months of employment as well as Early Literacy and Fire Extinguisher Training. Ongoing continuing education 24 hours of in-service required annually.

The Floater must also have:

• The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with Director of Child Development, parents and other staff
• Flexible ability to a perform a variety of duties across multiple age groups
• The ability to assist with lesson implementation so students participate in activities, which enhanced readiness skills in subject areas such as Language, Literacy, Art, Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Development, etc...
• The ability to assist with the discipline of the class. Discipline must adhere to the school's policy.
