GENERAL FUNCTION:Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Indoor Family Park Attendant will provide a safe and fun-filled experience for all participants who utilize the park and pavilion areas.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience Requirements:

1. Minimum age of 21
2. Relevant experience working with children
3. Experience teaching a skills class

Physical/Mental Requirements:

1. Must be able to routinely perform the following moderate physical activities; climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity
2. Must possess and demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment; and the desire to work with all ages, especially children
3. Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
4. Must demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment and the desire to work with all ages, especially youth
5. Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision
6. Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
7. Must work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently and lead by assigned goals, duties and deadlines
8. Must present a neat and professional appearance at all times

Job Requirements:

1. Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision and values
2. Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
3. Complete CPR/AED and First Aid in accordance with Conditions of Employment
4. Learn all emergency procedures and action plans for the branch as necessary
5. Understand and abide-by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association
6. Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch; including weekends and evenings

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Building effective, authentic relationships with children, parents, volunteers and staff; greeting and becoming familiar with members and their children by name.
2. Supervising and assisting all park and pavilion activities; ensuring participants are relating to each other, members, the equipment and facility in a positive manner.
3. Positioning self for optimal interaction and supervision of area; initiating age-appropriate games and activities and actively engaging while maintaining control of area.
4. Providing clear and consistent expectations for behavior; setting firm limits with positive phrasing and actions when necessary; supporting and demonstrating discipline practices in accordance with YMCA policies and informing supervisor of any concerns or situations.
5. Responsible for the safety and well-being of attendees by following and enforcing all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
6. Being knowledgeable and prepared to implement emergency procedures.
7. Reporting all incidents/accidents on the appropriate form as required and provide to supervisor within 24 hours of event.
8. Submitting completed records on time (i.e. attendance, behavior issues).
9. Completing cleaning duties and additional as deemed necessary and reporting any facility or equipment irregularities, unsafe conditions, or feedback to supervisor verbally and in writing.
10. Attending all required training and scheduled meetings.
11. Maintaining prompt hours and following established procedures for absences.
12. Supporting Strong Community Campaign fundraising efforts.
13. All other duties as assigned.
