Young Men's Christian Association of the Chesapeake, Inc is Hiring a Pool Manager Near Easton, MD

 POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Pool
Manager is responsible for leading the day to day operations and management of
the George Murphy and Bay Hundred Community Pools. Day to day operations
include guard supervision, scheduling, program development, facility
management/maintenance, and training. The Pool Manager is also responsible for
hiring, training, supervising, and leading their team in superior levels of
member service and engagement.
The successful candidate will help craft and implement a vision that ensures a fun, robust, engaging, and exciting aquatic program for all.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs and supervises all program activities and special events as they relate to the operation of the swimming pool.  
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed within swim and program department. Reviews and evaluates associate performance. Develops strategies to motivate associates and achieve goals. Maintains records of associate certifications ensure they are current and complete. 
  • Ability to perform all functions as those they supervise and maintain qualifications and certifications of Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, Pool Operator, and Lifeguard Instructor. May be required
    to secure other certifications / training post hiring (CPR instructor, etc.. at Y expense and as directed by supervisor)
     
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and Y health and safety regulations and maintains
    accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
     
  • Responsible (with all lifeguards) for daily cleaning and general maintenance of swimming pool (including vacuuming,backwashing, etc..), pool decks, bath house, and surrounding areas 
  • Develops all operating manuals, daily checklists, and best practices to ensure a first class swimming pool
    operation
     
  • Conducts lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR trainings and in-services training weekly 
  • Creates and schedules swim lessons, and lifeguard classes 
  • Schedules all summer pool rentals and supplies lifeguards as needed 
  • Plans, develops and implements all camper special events, programs, and activates as they relate to the swimming pool. Creates and implements age appropriate activities that drive camper
    engagement and fun
     
  • Effectively coordinate facility usage for assigned programs and activities. 
  • Foster an environment that is positive and motivating to children and peers. 
  • Maintains all records, licenses, and permits as required by local and state codes 
  • Adheres to Y operating standards and risk management policies 
  • Maintain high quality standards adhering to or surpassing association standards, and care and maintenance of program facility and equipment. 
  • Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. 
  • All other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. At least 18 years of age. 
  2. General clerical and computer skills 
  3. Ability to communicate with people of all levels 
  4. Must present a professional, mature image and have excellent interpersonal communication
    skills.
  5. Current Lifeguard Certification 
  6. Current CPO Certification  
  7. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire. 
  8. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. 
  9. Ability to life up to 30lbs & bend, stand, sit, walk, run for extended periods of time.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Walking, carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing,crouching, lifting (25 pounds), pushing, kneeling, standing and speaking 
  2. Ability to pass lifeguard swim test 
  3. Must be able to accomplish the following…

    2. Sit for extended periods 
    3. Communicate with others immediately when responding to an emergency 
    4. Think in abstract, solve problems, make quick decisions 
    5. Have adequate memory skills 
    6. Act swiftly in an emergency
