POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Youth Development and/or Director of Youth Educational Programs, Program Site Administrator is responsible for building a strong summer program team that works well together, overseeing the educational quality of the program and implementing the program model to create the best learning environment for the scholars.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


1.
Program Planning and Support

o Participate in the summer program planning process prior to the start of the program. Collaborate with the recruitment department in the selection & hiring of staff.

o Assist with site enrollment plan development, enrollment, parent events, and assisting parents in filling in paperwork and follow-up phone calls.

o Ensure that all curriculum and supplies are received and distributed prior to program start.

o Plan daily schedule for program site.

o Deliver on-site training along with the instructional coach to site staff in preparation for program launch.

2. Program Management

o Ensure that the goals of the program are achieved for each scholar.

o Manage and evaluate staff to ensure proper staffing ratios, instruction, and success of the program.

o Coordinate & communicate with various school depts. i.e. transportation, nutrition, maintenance, building principal.

o Participate in the program planning process prior to the start of the program and assist with scholar enrollment and parent events.

o Ensure that all curriculum and supplies are received, distributed, and maintained throughout the program.

o Work closely with the instructional coach to ensure scholars are receiving meaningful and engaging instruction.

o Implement and maintain a positive behavior-management system that is clear and aligns with the school, district, and state requirements.

o Ensure the ongoing health and safety of scholars at all times this can be in coordination with nurse if one is provided.

o Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements.

3. Developing Partnerships

o Serve as the connection between the program and the scholars’ parents to ensure support for their child's growth.

o Coordinate program’s partnership with the school by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including school administrators and parents.

The Site Administrator will be responsible for the following in collaboration with the Director of Youth Educational Programs:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, 21st Century site director roles acceptable, Teacher’s with leadership experience acceptable.
  • Passion and commitment to improving the quality of education for children living in underserved communities.
  • Experience working in urban communities and managing an OST program or other community-based youth program.
  • Experience working in an elementary/middle or high school environment.
  • Certification in education administration highly preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing different levels of staff.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with parents, administrators, staff, and scholars.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Strong technical skills, with ability to learn new programs quickly as needed.
  • Belief and commitment to LCS and the YMCA & partnering organization’s mission and values.
  • Knowledge of computers and associated skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Able to commit to working June 17-July 19th (off 6/19 and 7/1-7/5) and participate in trainings prior to start date.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Hours: Program operates 8-3 M-F

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
