We are looking for a motivated individuals who can function in a flexible, fast paced production environment. Experienced Industry Maintenance Technicians will handle a variety of electrical/ mechanical troubleshooting and repairs to keep equipment running and minimize downtime while supporting all other members of the maintenance group with any other repairs, projects, etc. deemed necessary by the department manager. This is a full hands-on position with limited supervision that requires initiative and a self-driven approach. This position is responsible for following all safety procedures and having the courage to intervene when observing unsafe practices by co-workers.

This position is also responsible for a high level of quality, productivity, and attention to detail. Maintenance Technicians will be in contact with all departments and production for the plant.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Electrical troubleshooting and repairs
    • Able to test and replace fuses, solenoids, contactors / relays, proximity / limit switches, breakers / motor starters
    • Adjust and replace photo eyes
    • Able to make conduit runs, wire pulls, and wire terminations
    • Able to perform pneumatic and hydraulic system repairs
    • Able to work with single phase / 3 phase / 110V, 240V, 277V, 480V, and 24V control systems
    • Able to work with Volt Meter/Amp Meter to troubleshoot electrical systems
    • Able to read schematics/blueprints to troubleshoot electrical systems
    • Able to troubleshoot AC / DC control circuits
    • Able to troubleshoot motors and drives, then replace if needed
    • Able to troubleshoot PLCs and ladder logic
    • Able to cross reference and change out electrical devices with other brands
    • Able to troubleshoot by phone while communicating with other maintenance personnel or machine techs
    • Perform electrical building maintenance
    • Assist with electrical PM as needed
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repairs
    • Able to identify / repair air leaks, water leaks, glue leaks, oil leaks
    • Able to identify and repair steam leaks
    • Able to troubleshoot and repair pumps and pump systems
    • Able to work on pneumatic and hydraulic systems
    • Able to troubleshoot, repair / rebuild, and replace cylinders
    • Able to work with a variety of mechanical hardware (various sizes/threads/etc.)
    • Able to fabricate / repair damaged, bent, and broken parts using various methods (welding, fastening, machining, etc.)
    • Able to disassemble and reassemble various racking, equipment, etc.
    • Able to work with bushings, bearings, locking collars, sprockets, chains, drive belts, pulleys, tensioners, miscellaneous belts and lacers
    • Able to understand and apply tolerances / square / parallel
    • Able to lead the setup and rigging for roll changes and larger repairs
    • Able to read schematics and mechanical prints
    • Able to understand normal machine function and operation to diagnose problem quickly and accurately and then decide on best course of action for safe repair
    • Assist with mechanical PM as needed
  • Checks all machinery for mechanical soundness and make sure all safety features are in good working condition and report all unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Maintains the machine at expected housekeeping standards.
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures.
  • Assists other departments and/or areas when requested by management/supervisor.
  • Troubleshoots when operating issues on machines occur.
  • Trains other team members to pass on knowledge & expertise.
  • Performs Lock out Tag out when there are safety concerns.
  • Follows Lockout procedures as specified in the Safety Manual and operators must sign off on all Policies and Lockout Procedures at a minimum of every six months.
  • Performs well with limited direct supervision.
  • Exercises proper handling to ensure good quality of work.
  • Excels in tracking and housekeeping inside and outside the warehouse.
  • Follows all facility safety guidelines that include adhering to Manufacturing Practices and Food and Safety as company outlines in company policies.
  • Maintains a strong work ethic, uses good judgement and decision-making skills while maintaining that safety always comes first.
  • Works with corrugator, converter, and various other machines such as but not limited to Flexos, Flatbed Die Cutters, Rotary Die Cutters, Joiners, and Printing. As well as an assortment of hand and small power tools, hammer drills and concrete equipment, lathe, mill, drill, band saw, welders, hydraulic presses, voltmeter, conduit benders, computer, basic office equipment, tow motor, etc.
  • Ability to work in varying degrees from 40 degrees to 100 depending on seasonal temps.
  • Ability to handle loud repetitive noises with proper company provided hearing protection.
  • Ability to work safely around machinery and moving equipment.
  • Possibility of outside work in all types of weather conditions (including heat, cold, rain, and snow)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Industry Experienced Maintenance Technicians are to have the ability to meet the requirements of the job with or without accommodation.

  • Corrugating/Converting/Packaging maintenance experience minimum of 5 years required.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of 10 years industrial electrical/mechanical experience.
  • A valid, current drivers license preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with contractors, service techs (onsite/phone support), and fellow employees.
  • Understands various aspects of an industrial facility including structural, electrical, plumbing systems, etc.
  • Ability to work additional hours and weekends as necessary to meet business plan objectives.
  • Fluent with schematics and blueprints.
  • 480V 3 phase wiring expertise.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel & Word is a plus.
  • Strong industrial trouble shooting skills.
  • Comfortable leading a job and working independently.
  • Highly organized, detail orientated and self-motivated individual (proactive attitude).
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, learn quickly and follow established processes.
  • Good mathematical skills - understand basic algebra, able to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, volume etc. (add and subtract numbers, multiply and divide by 10s and 100s ).
  • Accurately read a measuring tape and ruler.
  • The ability to learn and follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Possess a high degree of attention to detail and considerable dexterity in the control of company equipment and in the prevention of damage to materials and equipment.
  • Must satisfactorily complete and pass a Criminal Background Check in accordance with company policy.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data/facts (observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources) and draw reasonable conclusions
  • Ability to deal with various situations
  • Must pass a Drug and Substance Abuse screening in accordance with company policy.
  • Desire to be part of a winning team, matching work ethic, and energy level.

Hourly rate $34-$36 Full-time
